The Famous “Shields” Automatic Counter-Pressure Fillers and De-Aerating Carbonators MANUFACTURED BY The McKenna Manufacturing Cos., Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pa. • INSTALLED IN The Capitol Bottling Company

In placing our order for Shields equipment, we were governed entirely by our desire to get filling and carbonating machines that would produce the highest quality beverages. V' The Shields De-Aerating Carbonator not onl£ produces high uniform saturation, but also de-aerates the water which has a distinctly beneficial effect on a beverage by improving the flavor and palatability. De-aerat-ing or taking out air from the water makes a carbonated drink more healthful, neutralizing stomach acids. It prevents spoilage and gives a smooth velvety taste to the beverage. The Shields High Counter-Pressure Fillers automatically feed the bottles to the filling heads, where they are syruped, filled and crowned without beiug handled in any way, thus insuring a perfectly sanitary and thoroughly carbonated bottled beverage of the highest possible quality. We will be glad to show these machines in operation to any of our customers and recommend this equipment to our friends in the bottling industry. THE CATPITOL BOTTLING COMPANY, Indianapolis, Ind.

given each visitor at the plant during the day. Opening of the bottling company plant will add another important institution to the long list of varied industries in the Indiana capital. Employment will be given in the institution to more than fifty persons. Try-me is a nationally advertised drink which originated in the South more than ten years ago. The Capitol Bottling Company has the exclusive rights to bottle the drink in Indianapolis, and also holds the Indiana State franchise. It is the company’s intention to establish other Tfy-me bottling plants in the State and license other bottlers in Indiana to bottle Try-me for distribution in their ic. pective territories. The company’s slogan: "Bottled Without Touch of Human Hand," is expressive of the sanitary plant in which Try-me is bottled. The bottling room, entirely inclosed and apart from the rest of the plant, is light and airy. Its white enameled walls and white tile floor are kept immaculately clean. From the time the empty bottles are placed in the washer, where they are soaked for twenty minutes in a hot caustic solution and then scrubbed tyith brushes inside and out, they are not touched by human hand unit* after they are filled with sirup, carbonated water and crowned. From the automatic filling machines they are placed in cases and conveyed auto- ■ matically to another part of the plant. The capacity of the present equipment is 150 cases of twentyfour bottles each hour. The company operates a fleet of twelve Stewart ana Chevrolet trucks
