Clothes More Accurate Than Historians in Recording Psychology of Women, Martha Lee Says, Predicting Modern Garb Is Here to Stay.
By Martha Lee Clothes don’t make the woman, but women make their clothes—to fit the times. You can reconstruct woman’s history, by figuring what they have worn. In fact, clothes are more accurate than historians id recording the psychology of women.
When woman felt helpless and timid and something of man's inferior, she compressed her waist, impeded her limbs with lengthy and many-tiered skirts; she bound up her neck in high collars, weighted her head with a life-time growth of hair and wore the tiniest shoes she could get her feet into. She’ll not go back into those impeding clothes. She’ll stay lightly ■ lad and comfortable. Now that she’s challenging man on his own ground in every field from business to sports, she’s got to wear clothes l hat aid in giving her freedom, comfort, endurance. She’ll not go back. At least we don’t think she will, but who after all can tell? If she does, it means that she's changed her mental outlook. Wife Dresses Like Daughter Dear Martha Lee: I wish you could write something that would have some effect on my wife. She used to be a sensible woman, wearing sufficient and sensible clothing and acting like a wife and mother. Now she’s turned into an enlarged edition of m.v daughter, giggles like her, dresses like her and thinks no more maturely. It’s certainly puzzling to a mere man. ABSTRACT. I suspect your wife is no more

Your “Regular” Pain Now Needless Menstruation is a perfectly natural process, but the painful part is NEEDLESS. Long study has absolutely conquered menstrual pain. Science now offers women reliable and complete relief—in a simple, utterly harmless tablet called midol. This newest achievement of the laboratory has nothing to do with drastic, habit-forming drugs that kill pain by benumbing the whole system! Midol acts directly on the organs affected by menstruation, and nowhere else. Vet relief and absolute comfort come in five to seven minutes! So, why have a twinge of pain—feel "low” or even uncomfortable! Or take anything to depress the heart or upset the system? All drug stores have midol in a thin aluminum box that tucks in purse or pocket—for 50 cents.

shallow in her thinking, but probably feels the necessity of acting up to her clothes, if they are quite juvenile. I’m afraid there isn’t much you can do with the situation until the styles change—if they do. You rhight find relief though, if you could drop your critical attitude and think of her as your young chum (as she probably longs for you to.) Incidentally, you might wear knickers, a rhiney college cap and outdo her on this juvenile stuff. Seriously, don’t take this too seriously. She Goes With Another Dear Martha Lee: I am a young man old enough to know what is beet, but I am up agaiuat a brick wall now. I have had a steady girl who says she loves roe, but ehe is pretty friendly with another fellow and has been out with him and did not tell me about it until I found it out. She promised to forget him then, but has not kept her promise. Although we have been going together for a year 1 feel like giving her up. What do you say? DISGUSTED JIMMY. Your letter doesn't sound as if your heart has been much touched by her. If you can’t trust her. perhaps you’d be happier if you did find other company. As she evidently can find consolation with another, this would not disturb her either it would seem. However, better talk this over with her before deciding the future of your acquaintanceship. Be fair to her and be sure you are not misjudging. She Can't Decide Dear Martha Lee: I am going with two fellows and I can't decide which one I like most. The first one is a splendid fellow, much admired for his high ideals by every one who knows him. Tlie other is just the opposite as he has a hazy past and every one tells me that I shouldn’t waste my time on him. Whatever he has been. I know that he cares for me and is honestly trying to do better. IVhieh should count most? SALLY. The heart will not go where it is sent. A man may possess the finest qualities in the world and yet not touch the heart of the woman he desires. You’ve proved it by not leaning so distinctly in the direction of the admirable young man that the other didn’t sta Ud a chance. The fact that the one fellow is trying to deserve your love makes one sympathetic with him, but be careful and don’t let sympathy fog your judgement. You’d better wait awhile. Your heart will tell you what to do, if either of these is the right fellow. "Lonely Marie” and a "Girl Times Reader” have the same problem in that they are not allowed to have young men company. "Lonely Marie” is 15 and the other girl is 17. Well, you both have much time yet, girls, so why not give your time to getting more education and fitting yourself to be interesting women? Fortunately a few years will adjust this. Floor Spots To remove gray spots on waxed floors caused by water leaking around radiator, use a few drops of household ammonia on a moist cloth. Rub spots next with clean cloth and then refinish to match floor.
Don*t Squeeze Blackheads —Dissolve Them Saueezing out blackheads makes large, ugly pores. The safe and sano way to get rid of these blemishes is to dissolve them. Get two ounces of Calonite powder from your drug store, sprinkle a little on a hot. wet cloth, rub over the blackheads, and every one. big or little, will disappear at once,—Advertisement.

MEN FOLKS, TOO, ARE FAR FROM PERFECTION Mrs. Ferguson Not Worried at Mental Bomb Hurled by Chicago Professor.
By Mrs. Walter Ferguson Some professor in Chicago hurls this mental bomb: That marriage will only be successful when all women are beautiful and physically perfect. With theusual male impertinence, hedoes not suggest that it might be well for the men also to improve their appearance. Yet when you contemplate some of the hard-look-ing customers that women have had the courage to marry, you wonder why they always pick on us when there is any improvement advocated. It is to be hoped, however, that the homely girls will not go into a I decline worrying about this. For i men, you know, have a nice habit j of seeing beauty even where it Is ! hidden. Themost ordinary maiden | often wears the halo of an angel to i her sweetheart. All men are fools when they are |in love. It is unfair to twit them on their matrimonial failures because, after all, they have so little Ito say about the matter. When they ; ire In this state of trance they are incapable of judgment, discretion or good sense, and atthemercy of the Fates and the women. This is why there are such multitudes of homely wives. For though they may have looked exactly the same in the days of courtship, then their beaus dressed them up in all the feminine virtues, clothed them in the garments of beauty and set up shrines to them as to some mystic goddess. The fact that a woman’s mind may be a total blank does not even register on

the average man's consciousness when he is drugged with poison from Cupid’s arrows. For this reason we may watch daily the dragging off of smart and stalwart men by maidens who could not pass a kindergarten intelligence test. Homeliness, inanity, vacuity, positive meanness, are overlooked by the stammering male when the gods forget him. He is a helpless thing exposed to the dangers of a sex far more wise than his and at all times more astute. He is a gambler in a game more momentous than stud poker, more intricate than bridge, more difficult than golf, and only the fates can tell what his future will be with the chosen princess of his dreams. It is therefore quite futile for the professor from Chicago or anybody else to tell men what sort of women they should marry. This always rests upon the knees of the gods. 'The Lord, after all, must have pitied women. Although He showered on the men countless advantages. still He permitted in them this temporary mental aberration so that even the most worthless, the most ignorant, the most homely of women can still boast a husband. Color Psychology Spring and summer arc the times when housewives, appreciating how the gayness of outdoors livens up spirits, should look their color schemes indoors. These are the psychollgical times to refurnish and refurbish the home.
