last year their number was reduced to 20 per cent. “There is little to confirm the popular opinion that crime is increasing among school children and those under 20,” Brown declared. “Youth Is adventurous by nature. Boys in former years stole watermelons and fruit while now in the cities they steal such equivalents as junk and automobile tires. Oftentimes these youthful law infractions are exaggerated.” According to the board statistics a 2 per cent increase in prisoners between the ages of 20 and 30 was registered. In 1925 this was 32 per cent while last year it was 34 per cent. For the ages of 30 to 40 the number remained stationary at 23 per cent. Those between 40 and 50 increased from 13 to 14 per cent; between 50 and 60 from 6 to 7 per cent and those over 60 remained at 2 per cent. Eagle-Like Plane to Head for Paris Bn United Press SAN DIEGO, Cal., April 29. Capt. Charles Lindberg St. Louis aviator, will hop off in his giant Ryan monoplane for the east tomorrow ready to attempt a flight from New York to Paris. His plane amazed even its designers in test flights here yesterday. Resembling a giant eagle, the craft leaped into the air before it had taxied more than 100 feet along the ground. Lindberg plans to take off for Paris by the end of the week.
ON INSURANCE PROGRAM Four Local Men to Speak at Chicago Conferences. Four Indianapolis men are on the program of the annual meeting of the medical section of the American Life Convention in Chicago Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week. Herbert M. Woollen, president of the American Central Life Insurance Company, also is the president of the American Life convention. He will speak at the opening Session. Claris Adams, formerly of Indianapolis, now secretary and general counsel of the convention, will speak Thursday on “Life Insurance as An Economic Force and Social Factor:” Dr. Albert Seaton, medical director of the American Central Life Insurance Company, Indianapolis will speak on Friday, and Frank Manly, president Indianapolis Life Insurance Company, will lead discussion on Dr. Seaton's paper.
