‘BEAU GESTE’ TO OPEN SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE COLONIA

Esther Ralston to Be Featured in ‘Fashions for Women’ at the Apollo—Corinne Griffith to Play Lead in ‘Three Hours’ at Circle Theater. I The Colonial Theater opens its doors Easter Sunday night, April 17, with a limited engagement, of the film ‘‘Beau Cieste,' * from the novel of the same name by Major Percival Christopher Wren, directed by Herbert Brenon. “Beau Geste’’ is a story of the French Foreign Legion and opens with a scene of a French battalion approaching a desert fort in the Sahara.

,The battalion’s trumpeteer sounds his salute, the major fires a shot from his pistol, but there is no answering signal from the fort. Although the soldiers, with rifles leveled can be seen standing in the embrasures of the fort, there is no response. Then the close-ups reveal that every man at his post is—dead! The picture then flashes back to the beginning of the story of the three Create boys, Michael (Beau), Digby and in their English home. The story takes them through childhood and finally to the adult period. When their aunt loses a fabulously valuable sapphire they each take the blame apd disappear, meeting again in the French Foreign Legion. Ronald Colman, Neil # Hamilton and Ralph Forbes as the three brothers. have created characters in this film that will be long remembered. Other roles of importance are portrayed by Noah Beery, Altce Joyce, Mary Brian, Norman Trevor, William Powell and Victor McLaglan. >' Special musical score written by Dr. Hugo Riesenfeld is rendered by the company’s traveling symphony orchestra. under the new policy, there will be two performances daily at 2:30 and 8:30. ESTHER RALSTON FEAT I REI> IN “FASHIONS FOR WOMEN" For several reasons "Fashions for Women," to be presented at the Apollo next week, deserves to rank among the most notable photoplays of tlie year, foremost among them, perhaps, being that it serves to introduce the charming blonde beauty, Esther Ralston, as a full fledged Paramount star; and the picture was directed by Dorothy Arzner, the first woman to achieve 4irectorial rank with the Paramount organization. If the above' were not reasons enough there is the fact that Miss Ralston lias in her support the popular Swedish, leading man. Einar Hansen, who lias made a pronounced hit with movie fans since liis arrival in this country, and the favorite of old, Raymond Hatton, one of the best of character actors. Then, too, fifteen of the most beautiful tnunnequins in America glorify the picture in a gorgeous parade of the latest gowns from Paris. Adapted from the French play,
