April 15.—Civil strife in their home land has caused no breach in Chinese unity on the western shores ot' America. Sentiment among the thousands of orientals on the coast almost unanimously favors the Cantonese forces. Strangely enough it is the Chinese youth in America which is most deeply concerned in the outcome of the great upheaval. Chinese youths here for the most part, are Ameri-can-born. Their fathers, many of whom migrated from China, seem disinterested in the affairs of their native land. They are content to 101 l about their curio shops, discussing lotteries, or even the weather, in preference to China. Young Students Lead There are 00,000 members of the Chinese Nationalist party on the Pacific coast. Young Chinese, most of them university students, are the leaders of the 150 locals. In a huge Chinatown hall here in the oriental “capital” of the United States hundreds of the Nationalists meet weekly. Chinese taciturnity turns to volubility when the slightest hint is dropped by an American that the Cantonese are “reds.” They resent the slightest inference that the Nationalists Are bolshevists. They say the movement in China by the Cantonese forces is simply a code for the rebuilding of the empire along modern lines and one to remove the yoke of foreign domination. FASTER MAIL FOR ARGENTINA SOON Speedier Paris Service Than to New York. Bu United Press BUENOS AIRES, April 15—Although Argentina is twice as far away from Europe as the United States, Buenos Aires will soon receive mail from Europe in half the time it takes a European letter to travel to New York, according to the airmail contract signed here recently between the Argentine Postoffice and the Latecoere Company of France. The new airmail service is scheduled to commence on Sept. 1. By means of this new service, when fully functioning, a letter dispatched from Buenos Aires to Paris, for instance, will its reply arrive in Buenos Aires ten days later. This exchange can not now be made in less than forty-three days with sailing schedules in entire favor.
