MUSSOLINI LAYS MUCH STRESS ON ITALVSAVIATION Premier Declares Nation Can Never Have Enough Planes for Security. Bu United Press ROME, April I.—“One has only to look at a map of Europe to see that Italy can never have enough air planes to guarantee her security.*’ The foregoing statement by Premier Mussolini has been brought forward again as a slogan in the aviation boom which is at present pervading Italy largely as a result of Colonel De Pinedo’s trans-Atlantic flight and the Schneider cup victory. Gen. Nobile’s share in the North Pole expedition also helped to fan the public enthusiasm for flying, which has now grown to a remarkable extent. Airmen and pilots are being represented as the nations’ contemporary heroes, and every form of advertisement is being used to “boost” Italy’s flying services, both military and commercial. The walls of cities and towns are now plastered with advertisements and invitations to the country’s youth to enter the airman’s career, which is pictured as the ideal future i areer for young men of spirit. The praises of Italian pilots and litalian flying machines are sung by street posters with foot high lettering. “The development of aviation is inseparable from the country’s new youth” is a saying of Col. De Pinedo placed at the head of thousands of posters up and down the country. “Italy’s air pilots are, even in the opinion of foreign critics, among the best in the world,” is another quotation from' one of the duce's speeches which meets the eye a hundred times in the course of the day. The cinema palaces lend their assistance to the aviation boom, showing reels wherein Italian fliers and Italian machines are seen to the best advantage. A carefully worked out propaganda has resulted in Col. De Pinedo's flight being followed by the public with almost feverish enthusiasm. Official maps, showing the position of the “Santa Maria” from day to day are exhibited in almost every case, restaurant and store. Some of the aviation posters are issued by private firms in connection with the growing commercial services now running in Italy, but the government is also anxious that the

flying idea should catch the imagination of the Italian youth. Radio-telegraphy for use on air machines is also being held out as a promising career for young men. Italy already possesses one of the most powerful and best equippediair forces in the world, one that is second on the list of the great powers. The factories of Pisa and Sesto Calende, where De Pinedo's “Santa Maria” was built, are among the most technically perfect in Europe.
HYSTERICAL AND "ALL TO PIECES” Low Spirited and “Blue” From Suffering, Ky. Lady’s Condition Quickly Improves After Taking Cardui. Mrs. Hugh Nichols who lives near Princeton, Ky., says: “Cardui has been a great help to me and I believe but for having taking Cardui in time I would be bedfast now. I have used Cardui at different times over a period of 24 years. “Two years ago I noticed serious symptoms. I would wring my hands from sheer nervousness and at times have spells of hysteria when I would cry from no cause at all. The least little thing would upset me. I would go all to pieces and had a time holding myself together. "I was so forgetful I thought I was losing my mind. I often suffered dull headaches. My head would hurt terribly across the temples and down the back of my neck. My limbs from the knees down ached so 1 could not sleep at night. I was very lowspirited, just as “blue” as a woman can be. “Cardui had helped me so much on former occasions that I sent for it. Before I had finished the first bottle I found that I was very much better. I noticed that I slept better and was not nearly so nervous. The aching of my limbs had almost stopped and I had more strength for my household duties.” Cardui should help you too Try it. At all druggists.

Julia Browne, a school teacher. Coakley declared that the girl had promised to marry him in 1921, but had continued to put him off. In the past five years, he declared, he made and presented to her father forty coffins to advance his suit. He said the value of the presents was $330, but the father had sold them and had not given him the money. The promise to marry was denied and the action was dismissed.

HAND GUIDES CLOCK LONDON, April I.—When the clock of the famous St. Paul’s Cathedral broke down recently, the hands were moved around by a man’s finger in order that thousands of city clerks would not arrive late to work. Repairs took most of the day and all that time a clockmaker with a watch before ills eyes gradually moved the minute hand, second by second until the mechanism was fixed.
