WOMEN OUTSWEAR MEN Three Arrested in Budapest for Profanity, But Not One, Man. fiw United Press BUDAPEST, March 25. —Women swear more than men in Budapest, if police statistics are to be believed. Following a recent decree of the minister ot the interior prohibiting swearing on the streets the police arrested three women, and no men, in the first two days the deci-ee was in operation. The first woman arrested was 60 years old, and she was fined $5, the judge remarking she was old enough to know better. The other two women, both considerably younger, were fined lesser amounts.

Bu United Press NEW YORK. March 25.—Fat students get the skinn marks. A survey on physical unfitness in the colleges made by Dr. William R. P. Emerson for the Woman’s Home Companion, reveals that obesity and poor scholarship go hand in hand. An obese student, in Dr. Emerson’s report, is defined as "one whose weight, on the Ijasis of height, is more than 20 per cent above the average.” “Proper control and training of your son who is now in high school,” urges Dr. Emerson, "can soon start him on the course of health which will save hitn from membership in this group of corpulent deficients, at present one of the greatest debits in the college situation.”
CHINESE GENERAL TURNSTOPOETRV Marshal Wu Pei-fu Finds Solace After Defeat. Bii United Press PEKIN, March 25.—“ The cold wind from the west blows my old battle garment: "To look upon the bloodstain on the cloak brings sorrow to my heart. "My only possessions now are loyal heart and brave soul; "These will be with me forever, despite the ice and snow of the present situation.” The foregoing is a sample of the latest verse received here from the pen of Marshal Wu Pel-fu, who, virtually wiped from the military scene in Honan province, turns as usual back to his classical education for relief and in this instance commemorates the death of a faithful

Stage Guild ball—when they met to draw up final plans recently. Nicholas Hannen, chairman of the committee, was responsible for the “dope,” because he thought cinnamon and quinine was so much better for his colleagues than cocktails. "The mixture," he said, “looks like a cocktail and tastes like one.” Holding their noses and making wry faces, the committee bravely swallowed the mixture and were rewarded by the real thing.
