AMERICAN ART DEALERS LOSE London Gallery Obtains Famous ‘Holy Trinity/ Bu United Press LONDON, March 23.—American art dealers in London were recently beaten by the National Art Gallery in securing the famous Titian “Holy Trinity.” The picture was first believed to be a copy of the picture of the same title by Titian in the Prado Gallery at Madrid. After a cleaning, however, it was found that the London “Holy Trinity” differed in a number of details from the Madrid picture and experts decided it was not a reduced copy, but a sketch of the larger picture in the Prado. Several American dealers were prepared to pay large sums for the picture, but the National Gallery secured the first refusal on it and eventually bought it. The price is reported to have been about $30,000.

By Time* Special CHICAGO, March 23.—The spirit of corrcting and preventing pollution of the nation’s streams and lakes Is spreading rapidly to every community, according to Ed. H. Philippi,) executive secretary of the Izaak Walton League of America, which is staging a nation-wide anti-pollu-tion campaign. “Asa result of co-operative effort between national headquarters, State divisions, and individual chapters of the Walton league,’’ Mr. Philippi'declared, “many states are introducing anti-pollution bills in their legislatures this year.
