Then Coppy’s wee voice filled the air. “I see three kittens over there. Let's go and meet them. Maybe they are friendly can be.” The bunch rushed over where they were. At first the kittens raised their fur, but soon it settled down again right where it ought to be. Small tears dropped from each kitten’s head. “Why, you’ve been crying,” Scouty said. “Please tell us what the trouble is. Perhaps we’ll help you out.” And then one kitten "softly sighed; "We’ve lost our mittens, so we cried.” And promptly every Tinymite was looking all about. They sold at 25 cents a pound. A shortage of peas advanced the price from 20 to 30 cents a pound.* Cauliflower also wds higher, ranging from 30 to 60 cents a head. The large hotel-size bunches of asparagus were cheaper, dropping from $1 to 75 cents. Small bunches sold for 25 cents. For about a month egg puces have been within the limits of 25 and 30 cents. At present they are mostly 27 cents a dozen. A slightly weak tendency in creamery butter set it at 55 to 57 cents a pound, while the country variety remained at 62 cents. Tomatoes sold at 25 cents and mustard greens 20 cents a pound, sassafras 5 cents a bunch, egg plant 25 to 45 cents each and kumquats 30 to 35 cents a quart.

IJ.’J \cio f York Avenue WASHINGTON, March 22.—Reorganization of the United States Prohibition forces beginning April 1 will inaugurate a period of uncertainty on the part of prohibition agents now operating in Indiana as well as elsewhere. All field agents are to be considered as fired and rehired on probation as of that date, under the reorganization act recently passed by Congress. Within six months they must take a civil service examination. ’ It Is possible that many of them will not survive to do that. As officials here have Instructed field admioistratbrs that the reorganization will lurnish a fine opportunity to get rid of incompetent help. So far as can be learned here, E. C. Yellowley, who has charge of Indiana and Illinois <vith headquarters at Chicago, probably will remain in that post. Yellowley was prominently mentioned sometime ago as a possible candidate for the position of prohibition commissioner, anew office created by the reorganization act. However, all the “dope” here is that E. C. Pennington, now in charge of the Pennsylvania area, will become-the new en-
