CITES PROGRESS , IN T.RCRUSADE Year 1926 Added to Success, Health Head States. The year 1926 saw marked progress in the fight against tuberculosis, according to the annual report es Indianapolis Free Tuberculosis Clinics. The death rate has been reduced approximately 65 per cent since |9OO, Dr. Herman G. Morgan, exocutive “secretary of the board of health, said. The death rate for 1925 was .83 per 1,000 population. The death rate for 1826 was .79 per 1,000 population. , According to the report 1,127 new tuberculosis cases and 3,989 recurrent cases, tatalling 5116, were handled by the clinics in 1926. . “This is a field of preventive medicine the importance of which cannot too highly emphasized,” Dr. Morgan declared. "Several factors are responsible for the large decrease in the death rate- Educating the public to the fact that tuberculosis is a curable disease if caught in its incipient stage has helped. Facilities for hospitalizing early cases has also been of value. “When people learn to live in the open air and sleep with their windows open, drink plenty of milk arid take good care of their general tealth the death rate from tubercuIsis will be practically nothing. Education is the only way to bring this about.”
COMPANY PLANS SOUTHERN BRANCH Exterminating Concern Is Incorporated Here. J. V. Milliken, 905 City Trust Bldg., who has operated the T. N. T. Exterminating Company for the past two years, today announced the firm has been incorporated and extensive development is planned. Asa result of advertising in The Times Milliken said his service to restaurants, hotels and large apartments for the eradication of insects and vermin has rapidly expanded, making necessary the erection of a factory in the near future. It is expected to manufacture products used in the business and expand home service. Opening of a branch service station at Galveston, Tex., where all ocean going vessels will be fumigated, is planned. Company officers: McMillen, president; Ira A. Wells, vice-president; Mrs. Helen A- McMillen, secretary;, fck H. Erdman, treasurer and Paul PI Hoeltke, sales manager. BOYS’ CLUB DEDICATED Three Hundred Attend Ceremonies at 1400 English Ave. The English Ave. Boys' Club, 1400 English Ave., was formally dedicated Thursday night, following a dinner given for about 300 guests by the directors of the Indianapolis Boys’ Club Association. The brief dedicatory service was in charge -of the Rev. Ernest N. Evans, executive secretary of the Indianapolis Church Federation. Brief talks were’ given by Arthur Wolf, president of the association; Herman W. Kothe, secretary-treas-urer; Homer W. Borst, Arthur Jordan, Mayor John L. Duvall and Will Wertz, superintendent of the club. The invocation was given by the Rev. Ambrose Sullivari, assistant pas tor St. John's Catholic Church, in the absence of the Rev. Francis H. Gavisk, who is confined in St. Vincent’s Hospital with bronchial pneumonia. J

Senator Cass J. Jamvowski, of Michigan, lias a bill to bring before his State’s legislature providing that all who can’t or won’t work shall be medically examined and treated. He thinks this would reduce crime and unemployment. The unfit would be treated in hospitals until cured—all others out of work would be sent to prison farms.
