SESQUI PLANS AT .VINCENNES AIDED BY LEGISLATURE Citizens Confident Next Congress Will Also Vote Funds. Bn United, Press VINCENNES, Ind., March 11.— With State support assured, Vincennes citizens are going ahead with plans for the George Rogers Clark Sesquicentennial Exposition. Failure of the session of Congress just ended to pass an appropriation of $1,750,000 for the exposition may cause delay in the date of the event ‘ but it is certain to be held, according to D. F. Culbertson, chairman of the legislative memorial committee. He said the federal appropriation bill would be reintroduced at the opening of the next congress. On a recent visit to Washington, Culbertson and others interested in the exposition plans conferred with President Coolidge, and the presided indicated he was in favor of the appropriation. The bill was caught in the legislative jam at the close of Congress and failed to be brought up for action. State aid was assured when Governor Jackson signed a bill for a ■pecial tax levy to raise $400,000 for he memorial. The Legislature also passed a meas ire authorizing Krtox County and the City of Vincennes to raise SIOO,OOO each for the exposition. Plans call for holding the exposition in 1929, tin the 150th anniversary of the capture of Fort Sackvilie - from the British by General George Rogers Clark.
