JACKSON FACES 3 IMPORTANT BILLS Delegations Make Plea on Behalf of Measures. Three measures which caused considerable controversy during the seventy-fifth session of the Indiana Legislature still remain unsigned by Governor Jackson. Each. day since the session closed aelegations have been to visit the chief executive and urge him to sign or*turn down some of these bills. Evansville citizens were among those who have urged that the Sims mayor protection bill be left unsigned or vetoed. This measure would sustain the mayor in office after the city has voted in the city manager form of government. It was passed with special reference to Evansville and Indianapolis where city manager booms have been active for some time. House Bill 39 is also of outstanding interest. It is the Huffman medical injunction act which puts chiropractors and other drugless healers under the State medical board and provides for the use of injunction in enforcement. Bills licensing barbers and the cosmotologist licensing act also remain to be signed before the weekend. Forty-nine bills were signed by the Governor' Wednesday. The list included the bill abolishing the Indiana pardon board and the measure permitting a 5-cent tax levy in Indianapolis for financing a municipal auditorium. All bills without emergency clauses become effective upon publication of the acts, which will be some time in May. The pardon board will continue to function until that time. Intoxication without alcohol is possible through the use of a South Seas plant known to the botanists as “Piper Mysticism,” a shrub species of pepper, which tire Polynesians use bv crushing the root.
