Four Chapters at Indiana, De Pauw, Purdue and Butler Given Sketches—Dance Will Follow This Evening —Three of Seven Founders Honor Guests. By Mary R. Fanner Three hundred members of the Tlpha Chi Omega Sorority, representing the active chapters at De Pauw, Indiana, Purdue and Butler, and alumnae over the State, attended the annual State luncheon of he sorority today in the Riley room of the Clhypool. The State dance will be held this evening.
Beta Beta alumnae chapter of Indianapolis acted as hostess for the ■ luncheon with Mrs. Fred Tucker, chairman of the arrangements. Mrs. Robert Wolfe was general chairman for both affairs, assisted by Mrs. E. H. Jenne, Mrs. Earl Kiger and Miss Julia Weghorst. Three of the seven founders of Alpha Chi Omega were honor guests at the luncheon, Mrs. Olive Burnet Clark, Indianapolis; Mrs. Anna Allen Smith, Greencastle, and Miss Estelle Leonard, of Union City. Seated with the honor guests at the speakers’ table were Mrs. Don U. Bridge, president of Beta Beta alumnae chapter, Miss Daisy Wedding. Miss Emma Rolle and all past presidents of Beta Beta alumnae group, which included Mesdames E. H. Jenne, C. E. Cottingham, Fermor S. Cannon, George Neal, Leonard G. Wild, Ralph Clark, James M. Ogden, Olive Burnett Clark, and Misses Alta Roberts and Daisy Wedding. At Small Tables , The luncheon guests were seated at small tables which held French baskets of red carnations, and smilax as centerpieces, and on the speakers’ table were ! long, low baskets of flowers , all carrying out the sorority colors of red and green. Silver candlesticks ■ held red tapers tied with green tulle. i The programs were scrolls, hand lettered in green on red parchment tied with red and green ribbons, made by Alice Hollingsworth, assist' 3 by the favor committee, composed of Mrs. H. K. Wierick, Lucille Rogers, Opal Ferris and Mrs. Verne Trask, i Mrs. Bridge presided and after the song prayer Miss Wedding gave a i toast on "When a Body Greet a Body" or "What the State Luncheon iMeans to an Alumna.’’ Miss Emma jßoller’s toast was “When a Body ,Meet a Body” or “What the Luncheon Means to an Active Girl.’’ Greetings were given from each of the founders and the members sang Alpha Chi songs, led by Mrs. James M. Ogden. Sketches by the active chapters were: “Any Old Thing,” De Pauw; “Ship Ahoy,” Purdue; "Everybody’s Doin’ It,” Indiana, and "The Heart of an Alpha Chi,” Butler. Violin Numbers Miss Harriett Bonham of Greencastle, accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Howard Bonham, played several violin numbers. Miss Georgianna Rockwell is chairman of the committee in charge of the dance to be given tonight in the Riley room. Her assistants are Mrs. Eugene Pursel, Misses Dorothy Patterson, Mildred Blacklidge and Evelyn Shipman.
CARD PARTY SUNDAY Mrs. Martin Finnegan is the chairman for the card party at the Little Flower Auditorihm, Bosart Ave. and Thirteenth St., Sunday evening. Euchre, bunco and lotto will be played. Thomas Woman’s Relief Corps No. 20 will meet Monday afternoon at 2 at the Grand Army League, Ft. Friendly, 512 N. Illinois St. HOLY NAME SOCIETY The Holy Name Society of St. Catherine's parish will give a card atld bunco party Sunday evening at S o’clock at St. Catherine’s Hall, Shelby and Tabor Sts. HUSBANDS GUESETS The Versus Cordis Club will entertain husbands of members with a George Washington birthday party this evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Dremer, 1330 Ewing St. A musical program and contests will be given. Decorations will be in red, white and blue and a large cake representing the American flag will form the centerpiece of the table, lees will be in hatchet shape. Celebrate Two Anniversaries When the Caroline Scott Harrison chapter of the Daughter of the American Revolution celebrates George Washington's birthday with a banquet at 6:30 Tuesday evening at the chapter house, 824 N. Pennsylvania St., they will also celebrate the thir-ty-third anniversary of the founding of the chapter. Dr. Francis W. Shepardson of Chicago will speak on "Our Heritage” and Mrs. James L. Gavin, regent of the chapter, will preside. A musicale program will be given by Mrs. Ralph S. Chappell, soprano Mrs. Roy A. Hunt, violinist, and Mrs. Charles A. Pfaffiin, pianist. Mrs. Charles W.
