PHOTOGRAPHS IN COLOR SHOW SEA BENEATH SURFACE Special Technique Required for Latest Achievement of Camera. Bv United Press WASHINGTON, Feb. 18.—Photographs in natural colors, made beneath the surface of the sea, is the newest development in the comparatively new field of natural-color photography. After months of experimentation, the first successful autochromes from the ocean bottom have been secured by the National Geographic Society in association with Dr. W. H. Longley, ichthyologist, of Goucher College. A special technique for this new photographic undertaking was necessitated because the .common autochrome plate failed t\ register the moving life under water. The dampness, heat and lack of electric power at Ory Tortugas, off the Florida Keys, where the experiments wCre made, forced the scientists to sensitize the plates at 5 o’clock each morning, the coolest time of the day. Because of the greatly reduced power of sunlight under water, a special flash light powder apparatus was constructed to be discharged by the submerged photographer. The possible suspense to men in the boat above the diver, who were close to the explosion caused by the magnesium powder in the boat, was overcome by the construction of pontoons on which the powder floated and which could be regulated by the photographer without the aid of any assistants. The success of this undertaking, is assured and it has opened many avenues of experimentation in photography, it is said.

Know your city ‘'Make a friend for Indianapolis” To the Citizens of Indianapolis: During the last two or three year's exaggerated and false reports have been circulated throughout the United States to the detriment of Indianapolis and the whole state of Indiana. Many newspapers have printed sensational stories bearing on wholesale political scandal. Tourists have been warned to avoid passing through our city and state. Some eastern financial sources have been “selling Indianapolis short.” The situation calls for PROMPT AND DEFINITE ACTION. Unless this campaign of misrepresentation is speedily stopped it will injure every wage earner and business firm in the community. We believe that the best solution to the problem confronting us is for our WHOLE POPULATION to unite in a personal truth-telling letter-writing campaign. To encourage this movement, THE J. F. W ILD & COMPANY STATE BANK WILL OFFER SEVERAL hundred "Dollars in cash prizes. The plan is. for everybody to write to their friends in all parts of the country setting forth the truth about Indianapolis, and WHY IT TS UNRIV ALED AS A PLACE IN WHICH TO LIVE AND DO BUSINESS OR VISIT. This is not a “literary contest.” On the contrary, the kind of letters wanted are such as everybody writes to his friends or relatives —frank, friendly, simple letters—letters that contain personal experiences and observations. Small errors in spelling and punctuation will not count against writers. FACTS AND REASONS, told in an interesting way, will carry off the prizes. Complete details of our plan will be presented to the public in a few days. Meanwhile, acquaint yourself with the city you call HOME so you can help broadcast its advantages to the world. Sharpen up your pencils (as well as your wits) and begin jotting down FACTS AND FIGURES. In addition to the satisfaction of A DUTY WELL PERFORMED, you liavA an equal chance to win an HONOR PRIZE. Spend a few evenings for the benefit of the community aud yourself. Help make Indianapolis a BETTER and CLEANER city.

NO PANTS; MUSIC WAITS Concert In Vienna Delayed Due to Baritone’s Misfortune. Bv United Press VIENNA, Feb. 18.—A concert had to be postponed for an hour in Vienna recently on account of a pair of trousers. The concert was that of the famous Italian baritone, Überto Urbano. An hour after it was scheduled to begin, just as the nervous audience was beginning to hiss and jeer, Urbano’s manager appeared on the stage and explained that the singer had met with an accident while alighting from his auto before the theater and had been compelled to return to his hotel and wait there until another pair could be found for him. A few moments later Urbano appeared and was given his usual applause by the Viennese. CALLS OFFICER VIENNA, Feb. 18. —Uneasiness in Jugo-Slavia respecting Italian penetration of Albania and the growing Italian friendship for Hungary is rumored to be responsible for the order for all reserve officers to report for two month’s training.

GRIM EXHIBITION PICTURESREVOLT Russian Display Shows Struggle Against Czar. Bv United Press MOSCOW, Feb. IS.—One of the grimmest exhibitions in Europe has just been opened at Moscow. It tells, by oil paintings and drawings, the long story of the reckless revolts against the czarist system which culminated in the successful revolution of 1917. The scenes of other revolts, which the czar’s forces put down, are painted without pity. There is a canvas, showing i a wounded girl, huddled alone in the center of a r,now-covered square, the street around her trampled by the horses

a graceful figure, but rebel at the very thought of taking loathsome Cod Liver Oil With the fishy taste. Asa matter of record we want to say to all thin underweight men and women who need mere flesh and want a vigorous constitution that if these flesh producing tablets do not cause you to gain in weight at least 5 pounds in 30 days the druggist from whom you bought them is authorized to return the purchase price.
