ADMINISTRATION MEASURE PASSED Pittenger Bill Abolishes State Pardon Board. Another administration measure passed the Indiana House of Representatives unanimously when the Pittenger bill, abolishing the State Pardon Board, passed 94 to 0. The bill, introduced by Lemuel A. Pittenger, Selma, Republican floor leader, gives the powers of the pardon board to trustees of the Indiana State Prison, Indiana Women’s Prison, Indiana State Farm and Indiana Reformatory- The bill provides that the boards of the various institutions examine ai! petitions for clemency presented by the Governor. At least three board members must sign reports. Several judicial powers are granted the newly created board by the Pittenger bill: Administration of oaths, and administration of punishment for contempt of its findings are provided. Summoning witnesses in the j State, and compelling witnesses to i appear before it, the same as any court, also are new powers of the | boards. Witnesses receive regular court fees for attendance. I The measure is believed due for I passage in the Senate soon. LEAVE ATHEISTIC VILLAGE Bu United Press SARAPUL, Russia, Feb. 18.
