The alligator traveled slow, but kept the Tinies on the go. ’Twas really very funny as they all tore down the beach. The Tinies all were scared to death. The running made them short of breath, but even so, they manage to keep safely out of reach. Said Scputy, “Say, what shall we do? In just a moment I’ll be through. I cannot keep this pace up for I'm growing very fleak.” But, not a Tiny answered him. They held their breath to keep in trim, or maybe not another one had strength enough to speak. Wee Clowny dashed up to the lead by putting on a bit more speed. He headed for the beach line where he thought the sand was sound. And then he found how wrong he wasThe race was harder, now, because the sand was rather mushy and much softer than the ground. ’Course Clowny saw that he was wrong. His little feet would drag along, and now the alligator sofmed much closer than before. And so he hurried back again, up near a clump of trees and then he panted to the others, "Gee, I just can’t run much more.” “Hurrah!” said Coppy, full of glee, “I’ll save you all. Just follow me.” And in a. moment he had reached a palm tree, ne ir at hand. "We’ll shinny up this tree,’’ he said. “I guess we’re far enough ahead.” And then the bunch all scrambled up the trunk to beat the band. As soon as they had left the VODKA SALE BANNED Russian Officials Act to Remove Tax Collection Obstacle. Bn ini led Press YARKUTSK, Siberia, Feb. 11.— Sale of vodka has been forbidden for two months in the Yarkutsk republic because the vodka bill of more than $1,000,000 last year interfered with collection of taxes. It is likely that the prohibition will become permanent. The Yarkutsk republic is inhabited by farmers and deer-breed-ers and is larger than France.
