MR. FIXIT Rabies and Alleys Share in Correspondence.

Mr. Fixit, The Times representative at the city hall, will be triad to present your case to the proper city otficials. Write him in care of The Times, Binning full name and address. Name will not be used if. anonymity is desired. Atr. Fixit has recived two letters in the last two days asking that certain neighborhoods be rid of dogs. The rabies scare seems to be very prevalent in Indianapolis at this time, according to these letters; Mr. Fixit talked the rabies situation over With Dr. Herman Morgan, executive secretary of the board of health, and he laughed. He told Mr. Fixit that in all his experience is a doctor he had never seen one ;ase of rabies in a human. "There is also a mistaken idea that rabies are more prevalent in summer, especially August,” Dr. Morgan said. "My observations show that rabies are just as prevalent in the winter or any other time of tne year. But a larger per cent of the dogs killed because It is thought that they have rabies, arc not rabid at all,” Only one Ckse of rabies has been reported to the board of health in the past two weeks, he said. ♦ The letter Mr. Fixit received today about dogs is: Dear Sir: Cannot something be done to rid the block between Twenty-First and Twenty-Second Sts., on Avondale Ave.. of dogs? There are never less than six and often fifteen running about the street and school yard there. As none Wear muzzles and few. if any. have I'cense tags, it seems to me that something can be done to get rid of them. A READER. Mr. Fixit reported this matter to police, who promised him to send* a man out to that section to investigate the “doggie” situation. Dear Mr. Fixit: I am writing you in regard to the alley known/ as Palmer St., from Shelby St. east to the first alley running south. There are only two property owners on the alley and they both want it closed. This alley is in a very bad conditjpn. The other end of this alley has been closed and we would like to have the alley to improve ourselves and make a driveway. Please tell us how to proceed with this. MRB. R. H. D. This matter will have to be presented to the board of works in the form of a petition according to Wayne Enimelman, secretary of the board*. A public hearing will then be held and if no one remonstrates the alley will be vacated. Persistent Dog Wins Ride and a Home By Time* Special BcfONVILLE, Ind- Feb. 9 Returning from Evansville,-- Henry Hudson, local music dealer found an Airedale dog on the running board of his automobile. He brushed the dog off by opening the door of the car. yalf way home he had occasion to stop, and found the dog on the 'opposite side on the running board. This time he chased the dog from the cur. On reaching Boonville he found jhat.he still had his canine passenger. Unless someone calls Tor the dog he will keep him.
