FASCISTI FIGHTS PROPAGANDA FOR BIRTH CONTROL Italians Returning From France Introduce Idea. till United Prcn* ROME, Feb. B.—Mussolini's boast of his countrymen, that “prolific we are, and prolific we intend to remain” is the keynote of the campaign against birth propaganda organized by the Fascist government. A great number of Italian workmen, estimated at well over a million, who traveled-between France and their native country were said to be the cause of the spreading of birth control propaganda, with which the laborers had become imbued during their stay beyond the Alps. New Police Law The Fascist government, acting lii close union with the Catholic Church, immediately took steps to combat the introduction of such practices injo Italy, and the determined opposition of the Mussolini government led to the inclusion in the new police law of a section dealing with the subject. Clause 113 of the new police code declares that all writings, advertisements, pamphlets, designs, plastic images or lectures which divulge or explain or advertise means for preventing conception or avoiding its results are considered immoral and are forbidden under penalties. Indorsed by Church Even the mere possession of literature of any kind advocating or explaining birth control becomes a punishable offense under the new law. With the authority of the Catholic Church to indorse the edicts of the Fascist government, birth control is not likely tp make much headway in Italy, where there are now, as recent statistics showed, 20,000 families with ten children. UNIQUE CREW OF ROBBERS OPERATE, IN RUSSIAN CITY Ragman, Three Acrobats, Organ Grinder Form 'Company/ Itil United Press MOSCOW, Feb. B.—A gang of artful Muscovites has been having a successful season robbing apartments with the aid of a rag picker, three trained acrobats and an organ grinder. Now "Gaypayoo,” the soviet secret police, have put a stop to their activities. Ragman First The first of the gang to go into action in any of its burglaries was always the ragman. He peddled about from door to door, buying and selling old clothe* and incidentally surveying the interiors of many apartments. The organ grinder followed when the ragman reported a place worth attention. His duty was to organize the necessary method of retreat and to find out whether the contemplated victims were musical, because music in the courtyards played an important role in the undertakings. Artists Perform At last, when everything was ready and properly arranged, the three acrobats joined the action. TheJ technique of a successful as developed by this gang of artists was to attract attention to the sidewalks by means of the hurdy-gurdy, rivet attention there by the extremely skillful performance of the acrobats and keep the cheering householders leaning out of their windows while the ragman picked the lock of the front door and robbed the place.

SENATORS SELDOM DETAIN REPORTERS Twenty Wait Hour to See Reed ot Missouri. Bu United Press Feb. B.—There are very few Senators who will keep a newspaper man waiting very long to see them. All of them are busy but they give the right of way to newspaper men covering the Capitol who are as busy as themselves. But Senator James A. Keed (Dem.), Missouri, kept twenty of them waiting for more than an hour nis recent return from Missouri, In similar cases in the past most of the newspaper men have left the Senators flat. Not so with Reed. They all stuck to the last, which surely means something, although none of those present could what. Births Girl* James anil Angela Flanagan, St. Vincents Hospital.
