FLUSH THE KIDNEYS BEFORE BRER! Drink Lots of Water- Also Take a Little Salts if Back Hurts No man or woman can make a mistake by flushing the kidneys occasionally, says a well-known authority. Eating too much rich food creates acids, which excite the kidneys. They become overworked from the strain, get sluggish and fail to filter the waste and poisons from the blood. Then we get sick. Rheumatism, headaches, liver trouble, nervousness, dizziness, sleeplessness and urinary disorders often coine from sluggish kidneys. The moment you feel a dull ache in the kidneys, or your back hurts, begin drinking a, quart of water each day. also get about four ounces of .Tad Falts from any pharmacy, take a tablespoonful in a glass of water before breakfast, and in a few days your kidneys may act fine. This famous salts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lltliia, and has been used for years to flush and stimulate the kidneys; also to help neutralize the acids in the system, so they no longer cause irritation, thus often relieving bladder weakness. Jad Salts is inexpensive; makes a delightful effervescent lithia-water drink which everyone should take now and then to help keep the kidneys clean and active and the blood pure, often avoiding serious kidney complications.—Advertisement.

THE SEQUEL TO SONIA
BKGIN lIKRE TODAY SONIA, the young wife of Dr. Don Stillwater, because jealous of her husband when she inadvertently learns he was formerly engaged to— ELAINE WALLACE, stylish wife of Stillwater's partner, HR. ROBERT WALLACE. Through ESTHER LANE, stenographer in are office, Sonia also learns that Dr. Wallace is somewhat of a flirt, and attracts many of his women pa. tients. Sonia fears the Wallaces may have heard about her affair with FRANKLIN CRANE before she was married. Sonia thinks Don is ill, because he is not looking well, and calls oil Dr. Wallace for advice. She receives no satisfaction from Wallace, who tries to flirt with her. She runs across Stillwater and Elame Wallace in a restaurant later and is filed with conflicting emotions. On the night of their wedding anniversary. Elaine phones, calling Don away as they are about to go out and celebrate. He returns with a gift pickPd out by Elaine. Later at the Wallaces. Elaine accuses Sonia of calling her husband by phone and then denying it. Sonia receives a letter from Frankline Crane, saying he is coming to San Francisco. Sonia fears Don’s love for her is waning and decides to leave home to live with Jinny of Jed Thomas' office. -&piiia refuses any financial assistance from Don. Jinny tells Sonia she is m love with a married man. who proves to ba Dr. Wallace. A young salesman. Stephen Sessenger, in the office of Jed Thomas is interested in Sonia. Sonia meets Don while out walking with Stephen. The sight of him with the pained look about his eyes caused her to swoon. Don calls on her and insists on her taking a rest. Sonia was thinking of the perfect evening spent with Stephen when he suddenly caught her violently in his arms. Don called on Sonia in an angry mood. He accused her of accepting attention from Bob Wallace. Sonia decides that she will not disappoint Don. It that is what he thinks of her. she w ill play that kind of a game. She trios to act carefree, but admits to Stephen that she loves her husband. Stephen no longer interests her. She calls Don on the telephone. Sonia tries to straighten things out with Don. hut he refuses to listen to her. so she calls on Bob Wallace. Elaine appears on the scene, and to save Sonia Bob Wallace tells her about Jinny. NOW GO ON WITH THE STORY
CHAPTER XXXI Jinny followed her into the dressing room. Sonia was at the mirror, attempting to conceal the ravages the last hour had made. Elaine’s hysterical voice was still ringing in her ears. "What luck?” whispered Jinny. With difficulty Sonia shifted her emotions into low gear. "Not so good, but I can’t tell you about It now. Wait until tonight?” "6id you see Don?” "No!” Sonia’s voice failed as she remembered how little her errand had accomplished toward' the hopedfor reconciliation. "Don’t ask me about it now,’’ she insisted. "I'll tell you later.” She knew Jinny suspected something but better not to worry her until necessary. No news was so much better than the blow she was about to receive. At 5:30 the girls left the office together, walking to a restaurant. "It was pretty bad.” Sonia admitted. "Elaine came in just as we were ready to go to Don. She accused me of everything she could think of.” Jinny was pale with apprehension. "I fear the worst.” "You’re right, old thing. There was nothing to do but tell her. She said she had followed Bob to the apartment in a taxicab. . . .” Jinny pushed her food away. "Oh. dear,” she said, weakly, “do you mean that Bob told her about me?” "Bob couldn’t help it. He had to tell her. I’m sorry. Jinny,” she added, as she saw the sickening realization which swept the other girls* face. "Elaine was almost Insane.” Jinny said nothing for a moment, then she faltered, “I'm afraid Bob will never dare to see me again.” Sonia suddenly decided to keep Elaine’s threat to herself. Bob surely would not be cad enough to do as his wife insisted. And a little reflection would cool Elaine’s anger. No one could remain in her condition long. But Sonia suggested going to a movie instead of back to the apartment. Because if they were not at home nothing could happen. Jinny refused. "ii couldn’t, Sonia. I simply couldn’t.” "But, darling, what's the use to go home? We're both on edge. I really think it would be more sensible." "Not tonight.” "You’ll have to get used to it sometime. . .” "I know, but I want to go home tonight." So they went home. And at 7:30 the telephone rang. Sonia tried to answer but Jinny snatched It from her hand. “Oh. Bob—-yes, of course, PH be here.” Tears were in her eyes as she turned to Sonia. “How we’ve misjudged him. He is coming right over. He said he wanted to talk to me.” Suddenly she threw back her head. "Even if this is the end,” she declared, dramatically, "I think I can stand it if he cares enough to come and explain.” Sonia asked, forebodingly, "Did Bob say he was coming alone?" "How else would he come?” "I don’t want to frighten you, but I’m afraid Elaine is coming with him.” Jinny stared at her. "You don’t mean he'd bring HER?” Sonia nodded. The other girl's eyes were angry as she replied, "I don’t believe it. You always think the worst of him.” Perhaps Jinny was right. Perhaps he really was coming to tell her why everything was over. Sonia hoped so! But she was not surprised when Jinny opened the door to see Elaine. Elaine in her most regal manner, perfectly groomed, exquisitely gowned, lifting her eyebrows, delicately, at the unmistakably dingy surroundings. “Jinny,” Bob announced, miserably, "this is my wife. She wanted to meet you.” Brown eyes met black. Then Jinny turned away. into her pale face. The advantages were so obviously on the wife's side. "Won’t yqu sit down?” she requested, nervously. But there was no place to sit until she removed a pair of stockings and some “teddies” from the chairs. Sonia desired nothing more than flight, but*she could not desert her friend at this stage of the game. The least she could do was to stand by while Jinny took her punishment. No one seemed to know how to begin, until Elaine drew a wisp of a handkerchief from her bag and gently touched her eyes. That seemed Bob's cue. "I suppose Sonia has told you of the misunderstanding we .have all had?” Jinny nodded. "It’s very unfortunate,” continued Dr. Wallace, suddenly achieving his professional manner. "I deeply regreat that any one has been made to suffer through me.” Sniff —sniff —from Elaine's corner. Jinny continued to stare at him. “Asa matter of fact,” admitted the gallant husband, "it's impossible for a girl like my wife to understand the situation. Although I have explained to her that we were merely good friends ..." '■ Elaine interrupted, “That's YOUR side of It. You needn't coach Miss YOUR FRIEND —and further, Bob. I prefer that she speak for herself.” Sonia, * unable to control herself, cried, "I think this is despicable of both of you.” The face of the older woman turned to her was drawn with pain. "You would because you don’t see MY side of it,” she cried, hoarsely.
CHS’BILL BEFOREJOUSE Committee Against Optional Inspection Plan. A bill now before the House of Representatives and bearing the recommendation of tlie House committee on State Medicine provides Inspection of cannery food products. This measure known as the Storen bill, aroused much opposition on the committee hearing on the part of a number of cannerymen, although it has support of the Indiana Canners Association^ Opponents submitted a substitute measure, making inspection optional and calling for use of a State stamp of approval. This was opposed by the committee. Object of the Storen bill is to give the industry an inspection service that will overcome the bad reputation created by the State’s uninspected products during past years. "You know nothjng about the hours I have waited for Bob to come home. Unable to reach him on the telephone. Wondering where he was—what he was doing ...” Such sheer tragedy rang in her voice that Sonia was sorry for her. Not much fun to be the wife of a man like Bob and LOVE him. Elaine turned back to Jinny who sat as if frozen to her chair. "Whether there was anything serious to this affair or not, I’ve been terribly hurt. It is no compliment to have my husband prefer your company whatever his reason.” Her eyes began to snap. "But I’lN tell you this, Miss—JlNNY—if there was anything more than flirting to it I want to know.” All three were watching Jinny. Sonia sympathetically. Bob in terror, Elaine, with the fixed intensity of a snake. And like the ill-fated bird of prey Jinny fluttered toward her. “My relations with Bob are my own business.” she faltered. "I refuse to answer.” Bob groaned and Elaine started for the door. "That’s all I wanted to know. You’ve lied to me. Bob Wallace, but I swear it will be the last time.” "Elaine,” he implored, “Jinny, for God's sake, let her go away believing there was anything to It. You know I wasn't serious. 1 told you 1 loved my wife ...” Jinny looked at him as if he had suddenly collapsed into a corpse. "That’s true, Mrs. Wallace,” she said, "I didn’t want to tell you. Pilgrims from every corner of the Land of the Rising Sun gathered in Tokio, and it was estimated 1,500,000 lined the route of the procession. The ancient Shinto ceremonies were strangely blended with modernity and microphones along the line of march enabled millions unable to be present to join in the national mourning. Even the creaking wheels of the great funeral cart were caught on the radio. TWO ILL FROM GAS Couple Overcome by Fume* From Hot Plate. Bu United Press FT.
