•that his ashes have not been hauled away for two weeks. The letter is: MR. FIXIT: I need assistance. For a month In the rear of 101S N. La Salle St., I have had a barrel of ashes that you would think was filled with •poison for all the attention that the ash men give It. Last week I had to get another barrel because the other one wasn’t empty, and now they have passed the second one up. What do they want? Do iliey expect to have them put in onepound lard cans? Now these are small-sized barrels and two men could easily lift them, and if you possibly can, I wish that you would try to get something done about It. Mr. Flxit turned this complaint oxer to Truly Nolen, superintendent of the city garbage and ash collection. lie said that he would investigate the matter at once and have the ashes removed. My Dear i Sir: Could it be possible to have something done to the alley south of Tabor St. from Linden St to Floyd Ave., to make it passable? I get stuck in this alley twice a day. Linden St. and also Boyd Ave. are In such a condition it is impossible to travel them. F. E. Woodward said that the matter would be looked after as soon as it was possible. As was said above the street commissioner lacks funds to carry on this alley cindering work. Dear Mr. Fixit: I have been advised that you can give the residents on this section of Christian St., the 400 block, some much-needed help. The alley in the back of this block is in a terrible condition. A mudhole there is impassable in thawing weather, and of course will grow worse as spring approaches. Any service that you can render us will certainly be appreciated. L. IV. ,1. The ss,treet commissioner said that this mud hole wouliF be attended to at once. As for cindering the alley that would be Impossible at present as there is a lack of funds in thW department.
