PROM > RECORDS STUDIED BHf to Demand Better Standards Here. ' Survey of prohibition and suspjnded sentence systems practiced ■i Criminal, Municipal and Juvenile Courts is being made by officers of the National Prohibition Association, who will draw up a bill for presentation to the Legislature urging "better probation systems that will tend to prevent criminality.” Charles L. Chute, association secretary, and his assistant, Ralph Drowne, are studying the court records. They expect to draft the bill within three weeks. According to Chute, the courts asked for the survey and Legislative action and the committee on adult probation of the Indiana Bar Association, headed by Deputy Prosecutor Judson L. Stark, has approved the action. A meeting of the Indianapolis branch of the association will be held at the Chamber of Commerce Thursday afternoon. The survey will point out that "better standards are needed in probation work to defeat leniency and laxness in the practice which is aiding the criminal.” STATE PARK PROPOSED i University Sets Price for Donaldson Farm Near Bedford. The Donaldson farm, an ISO-acre tract of vigin forest owned by Indiana University and located on the Mitchell Tunneliford Rd., near Bedford, will become a State park if legislative plans of a group of Lawrence County citizens are carried out. Legislation has been proposed by which the land would be taken over by the State through enactment of a law and be paid for by the conservation commission. Original cost and improvements amount to about $15,000, the price that the university is asking for the property. Many caves are located on the tract. A committee headed by Albert Fields of Bedford, including Senator John C. Sherwood, Representative E. Y. Guernsy, E. B. Crowe, Dr. John Andrews and others, presented the matter to the board of trustees of the university.
