The Southern Pacific steamship Creole, 10,600 tons, inbound from New York and tho tanker Punarka, 4,000 tons, collided in the Mississippi River, seventy-five miles south of New Orleans late last night, and both were beached. No one on either vessel was injured. A wireless message from Capt. B. F. Jacobs of the Creole said his vessel was only slightly damaged and would make its own way into port as soon as the heavy fog lifted. The tanker with a crew of twentysix, had its bow smashed in fifteen feet and was last reported taking writer, with anchors jammed.
