Purdue Respects- Celebrated Defensive Strength of Windy City Five. Week-End in Big Ten Tonight Purdue at Chicago. Saturday Michigan at Indiana. Northwestern at Wisconsin. lowa at Illinois. Minnesota at Ohio State. Bn Times Snrriiil LAFAYETTE, Ind., Jan. 21. What is looked upon as a most severe test of a Lambert offensive will bo staged tonight In Chicago when Purdue and the Maroons clash in Bartlett gym. Chicago is rated as one of the strongest defensive teams in the Western Conference, and has displayed prowess o£ this nature against lowa and Wisconsin, to to which it lost, and against Northwestern, a tkam which dropped to the Maroons. Wilbur Cummins, will be the special target of the Chicago defensive system, apd it will be an interesting encounter in this respect if none other. Cummins, product of Iloosierdon’s flashy offensive style of ball, is as effective from the foul line as the field, and if Chicago can hold him to a few points, it will deserve great credit. Wheeler, Wilson and Wilcox, whose basket shooting has been off color the last few games, hit the goal with more regularity in practice this week, indicating Chicago will have more than one man to watch in tonight's game.

Back Barrow for Ban’s Job

/??/ United Press NEW YORK, Jan. 21.—Although he made an emphatic statement that family obligations would not warrant him to make the sacrifice of his stock in the New York Yankees to accept the presidency of the American League, .friends of Ed Barrow, business manager of the club, felt sure today he would accept if Ban Johnson’s job is offered to him. Baseball men were said to be lined solidly behind Barrow as the next president of the league if Johnson is deposed and it has been suggested that Barrow could act as an emergency president without being forced to dispose of his Yankee holdings until the league could be reorganized.
