MR. FIXIT

Flat Street Car Wheels Noisy—Can Not Sleep,

Mr. Fixit, The Times’ representative at the city hall, will be glad to present jour ease to the proper city officials. He will do all in his power to see that the case is attend to. Write him in tare of The Times. Changing of a street name, but not changing of the street signs, is very confusing to people, one person wrote Mr. Fixit. The person asked that this be remedied at once. The letter is: Dear Mr. Fixit: Will you please see what can be done about getting us some street signs on Harlan St. south of Raymond St.?' The street has been changed lately from Churchman to Harlan and the signs of Churchman are still up. Therefore no one is able to find Harlan. E. C. Mr. Fixit took this up with the chief street inspector today, and he said that the matter would be attended to, as the proper signs would be put up immediately. Street car insomnia seems to be the trouble with one person who wrote to Mr. Fixit toda'y. The public need not be alarmed, as this disease is not contagious. Mr. Fixit kknows that it is very annoying to

be kept awake by the continual bang and rattle of a street car with flat wheels. The letter is: Mr. Fixit: Why is it that all the street cars with flat wheels are run over the W. Tenth and W. Michigan lines? It seems that they ought to be in the barn for repairs. It is almost impossible to get a night’s sleep along either line for the bang-rattle-slam-banging noises from these cars. Hope you will do all you can for a change. T. H. W. The street car company assured Mr. Fixit that they knew that this was very anoying and that they would do all in their power to remove the offensive cars. The late need for cars has caused the company to use cars that they would otherwise put in the shop for repairs, they said. Mr. Fixit is investigating the following complaint. Every one in the city hall has told Mr. Fixit to go to someone else with it and it is hard for him to trace down the responsible party. Dear Mr. Fixit: Late this fall the Merchants Heat and Light Company dug a hole in the front yard at 15 N. Wallace St., to place a guy wire In digging they cut the lead-in water pipe. The company had a plumber to repair the water line, but he was forced to dig in the street to do so. After which he merely filled up the hole in the yard and did not fill in the hole in the street. We protested putting the guy wire in the yard, but the company said that it was necessary on account of putting more wires in the pole. Since that

time they have taken down the extra wires. What we would like to have is the guy wire removed and the street repaired. SERVICE CUP AWARD Legion to Award Trophy for Most Outstanding Welfare Work. McNutt. Community service holds first place among the six objectives outlined by the new commander for the Indiana Legion during 1927. Wilhelm Marx today announced his inability to form a German cabinet based upon a coalition of middle parties of the Reichstag. Marx was defeated in the Reichstag before Christmas and he and his cabinet resigned but were continued in office by President Hindenburg until after Jan. 1, when Julius Curtius, a member of the Folk's party, was designated to form a cabinet. Curtius failed and Hindenburg designated Marx to succeed himself. Marx is a member of the Centrist or Catholic party.
