SCHOOL LOCATION CAUSESARGUMENT North Side Residents Raise Numerous Objections. Tentative location of the proposed ten-room elementary school to be built in the vicinity of Fifty-Seventh St. and Central Ave. has become a “bone of contention” among- property owners in that territory. At the meeting of the board of school commissioners Tuesday night Samuel Ashby, 1924 N. Deleware St., voiced his objection to the approval of a site at Fifty-Seventh and Delaware Sts., where he owns property. L. R. Cartwright of 5717 Central Ave. and T. YV. Mitchell of 5784 Central Ave. previously objected to a Fifty-Seventh St. and Central Ave. location. An offer of a lot measuring 344 feet by 275 feet at Fifty-Ninth St. and Central Ave. for $30,000 was made by William Herider, owner, and Jacob L. Steinmetz offered a site at Fifty-Seventh St. and Broadway. The McClure Realty Company also made offer of a lot at FortySeventh and Illinois Sts. for $20,000. SUPPORT RUCKER STAND Universal Club Scores Use of Barrett Law Fund Interest. A resolution characterizing as “unfair and illegal” the collection of the interest on Barrett law funds by county treasurers and pledging the efforts of club members to aid Alvah J. Rucker, former corporation counsel, to collect “the misappropriated interest” was adopted by the Universal Club Tuesday. The resolution, adopted after general discussion, stated “we are entirely in sympathy with the movement you have started to abolish this custom of the county treasurer's office and to collect the past indebtedness due the treasury of Marion County from the past county treasurers who, since 1915, have thusly unfairly and illegally collected such funds.” An invitation was extended Rucker to speak next Tuesday. Howard Eidling, Beech Grove, told his parents Tuesday night that en route to his work two men In an auto accosted him at Meridian and South Sts. One was armed, and told him to hand over his cash. When he replied he had none, they left, he said. Today, his mother, Mrs. Carrie Eidling, reported the matter to po lice and gave the license number of the bandit’s auto.
