John Roach Straton, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church of New York, has a contract to deliver sixty lectures this year for the Supreme Kingdom, a newly formed organization, for which he will receive $30,000. Dr- Straton is scheduled to make tils first speech as religious director of the organization here tonight. The meeting will be “the beginning of a national drive for members of the Kingdom,” the newspaper said. Edward Young Clarke, formerly mperialiwizard of the Ku-Klux Klan, is sovereign or president of the Supreme Kingdom, the Telegraph said, and in enrolling.'‘more than 4,000,000 members within the year,” will enrich himself, the paper charged. CANTWELL NAMES NEW COMMITTEES Several Changes Noted in State Fair Executives. Newly elected President of the State Board of Agriculture Guy Cantwell, Gosport, announced his board committees Thursday. Members of the executive committee, other than board officers, are Russell East, Shelbyville, and Levi P. Moore, Rochester. On the finance committee will be Cantwell, E. J. Barker, secretary: Moore, East and O. L. Reddish, Waveland. Among the changes In State fair committee chairmanships were: Austin H. Sheets, Marion County, recently appointed by the Governor to succeed C. J. Murphy, head of the horticulture and agriculture committee: E. D. Logsdon, Indianapolis, parking and police, and former Board President R. C. Jenkins, cattle committee. Contracts were let at a meeting of the executive committee Thursday for three Indiana bands to provide music at the fair and also for the fireworks and midway shows. Bands are: Indianapolis Military, Indiana University and Watson girls’ Muncle. Gordon Fireworks Company, Chicago, and D. D. Murphy Shows, St. Louis, received contracts. The committee will select free acts today.

LEGION HEADS CHOSEN Several Indianapolis Men Honored by State Department. Chairmen of State committees of the Indiana department of the American Legion for 1927 have been appointed by Commander Paul V. McNutt, Adjt. John H. Klinger announced today. Other committee members will be announced later. The following committee heads were named: Bowman Elder, Indianapolis, France convention: Dr. Carleton McCulloch, distinguished guests: Harlan Hadley, radio; Joe R. Beckett, legislative; Albert Stump, State speakers: Clifford Payne, Newcastle, Indiana State Soldiers’ and Sailors' Orphans' Home at Knightstown: Tom McConnell, Fowler, child welfare; Dr. Homer Woolery, BloomIgton, rehabilitation. STATE CLEARS ROADS Travel Not Hampered by Storms of Past Several Weeks. Motorists in Indiana experienced little difficulty on the State roads from the snow, according to reports from the State highway department. Maintenance forces cleared the highways with drags and plows as early as possible. As soon as the snow reached a two-inch depth double traffic lanes were created and maintained. Six additional snow plows have been added by the maintenance forces and are now stationed principally in northern and western Indiana, where lakes and prairies offer opportunity for snow to drift. ,

The real estate board, in a report to the park board Thursday, appraised the Casino Gardens property, which the park board Is contemplat ing buying for a golf course, at $2,500 an acre and $35,000 for the clubhouse. There are approximately seven acres In the tract. The board approved a $35,000 bond Issue for anew bridge over Pleasant Run at the Garfield Park entrance. A delegation of West Indianapolis citizens, headed by the Rev. J. R. Quick. River Avenue Baptist Church pastor, protested delay in the open ing of the new community house in Rhodius Park. The building will be opened in tw r o weeks, the board promised. Plans for widening Thirty-First St. were approved. M. E.
