URGES BARRING SMITH Senator McKellar Would "Slam Door” in Face of Illinois Man. Hii United Press WASHINGTON, Jan. s.—The Senate was urged to "slam the door in the face” of Frank L. Smith, Re.publican Senator-designate of Illinois, in formal speech Tuesday by Senator \ McKellar (Dein.), Tennessee, analyz ing the evidence of' Smith's cam ' paign contributions and expenditures. McKellar directly charged Smith’s acceptance of campaign funds from public utilities interests while he was yet chairman of the State publie utilities commission was a violation of the public service laws of Illinois. PRIMARY TO BE TOPIC Woman’s Legislative Forum Will Hear Oswald Ryan. The Woman’s Legislative Forum of the Seventh District will meet Thursday at 2 p. m. at the Claypool with Oswald Ryan, Anderson, Repulican candidate for Senator In the last primary, as speaker. The subject will be “The Primary.” Discussion following the speech will be led by Mesdames O. C. Lukenbill, I. E. Rush, Lew Shank and M. B. Spellman. At the meeting the following week, “Court Procedure,” "Modification of the Dry Law, and the Sherwood Educational Bills” will be discussed. LIQUOR CASE REVERSED Search Warrant Did Not Describe Property, Opinion. Sentence of Stoyco D. Muleff for possession of liquor was reversed by the Supreme Court Tuesday. He | was found guilty in the Marlon | County Criminal Court, but it was contended that the search warrant used by the sheriff did not properly describe the property raided. This contention was upheld by the higher court.
