County tax accessors would be In &/Maar or atreiomobile license plate distribution In their districts If a resolution adopted by them nt their annual meeting with the tax board should be put into effect. The resolution was adopted at the closing session Tuesday by assessors from every county, in the State, several township ' assessors and county treasurers. In adopting the license plate resolution/ the assessors contended that were to be in charge of the distribution the county would have a better record and check on the cars. ' Should the plan be adopted it would take from under the wing of the secretary of State more than 100 employes, scattered in every county, and seriodsly handicap the building of an organization by any holder of the secretaryship with gubernatorial aspirations. Recommendation that a law be passed equalizing the per diem fee for service of members of county boards of review and giving* the county assessor the same pay as the county treasurer, county auditor and other members of the board was adopted. SLAYS MOTHER-IN-LAW Man Confesses Hilling Woman Whose Hand Held Hair. ■ tin United Press MINEOLA, N. Y.. Jan. 5.—A wisp of hair, torn from a man's head by the roots, and two bone buttons, snatched from his coat by a woman in a fierce struggle to live, caused the arrest for murder Tuesday of Harold E. Webster, 26, a real estate dealer of Miami, Fla. District Attorney Elvin N. Edwards announced after questioning Webster all night that he had confessed beating his mother-in-law to death. The body of the victim, Mrs. Catherine Gallaway, 45, was found yesterday. Several strands of hair and two buttons were clutchedy tightly in her hands. Mrs. Gallaway, her skull fractured, lay on a chair. Upstairs asleep was the 1-year-old child of the Websters, over whom Webster and Mrs. Gallaway are believed to have quarreled.
