RILEY ASSOCIATION STARTSJEMORIAL $53,000 Given in Memory of Louis C. Huesmann. A gift of $53,000 by members of the Riley Memorial Association for establishment of a memorial to the late Louis C. Huesmann, was announced late Thursday by Hugh McK. Landon, president of the organization. The association gift will be used to start the Louis C. Huesmann foundation, the purpose of which is to promote research in children’s diseases at the Riley hospital. It is hoped, Landon said, that additions to the present fund will permit the enlargement of its scope. Goal for the fund has been set at $60,000. “The members of the Riley Memorial Association have not only done a beautiful thing in establishing this memorial to Mr. Huesmann,” Dr. William Lowe Bryan, president of, Indian%_University said in commenting on the gift, "but they have demonstrated the breadth and wisdom of their vision of the future possibilities of the work of the children’s hospital.”

COAL FIRM SAFE LOOTEDOF $73 Burglar Used Pass Key, Says Manager. s By working the combination of the safe at the Gem Coal Company, 1161 Roosevelt, burglars Thursday night obtained $73, police say today. Virgil Pott, 319 E. Fiftieth St., manager discovered the theft when he opened up. He believes a pass key was used to get in as no doors or windows were pried open. Pott, said checks were scattered about the floor, and desks ransacked, but nothing except the cash was missing. MUCH LIQUOR; PRICES UP 111/ United Press NEW YORK, Dec. 24.—Liquor for the holidays is so plentiful that the market is glutted, but 98 per cent of the alcohol stimulants dispensed by local bootleggers are “bad.” Chester P. Mills, local prohibition administrator, admitted that his aids had been powerless to stem the flow of liquor. Gin mills and "speak easies” throughout the city are expecting a thriving business, although admitted selling a highly inferior product. Despite the plentiful supply, prices are one- third higher than last year.
