FAMILY FRACAS LEADS STUDENT TO LABOR JOB Youth, Mad at Wealthy Father, Is Construction Gang Worker. Tlv United Press NEW ORLEANS, Doc. 17. Another story of youth’s revolt against the beliefs of his father was revealed here when Talnmge Elrod, 21, a former Tale student was discovered working as a day laborer. Elrod, while attending the University, assimilated the beliefs of the modems and on returning home aired these views before the family fireside. Discussion between father and son followed and from this point It progressed into on argument. Religion entered the conversation as It Is prone to do and another point of disagreement had been discovered. At I jogger heads The father, one of the wealthiest men In Thomasvllle, Oa., refused to send hls progeny back to college ae long as he retained hls views. The son, In turn, refused to go back to college on the money furnished by hls father and so they parted. Elrod, disregarding Horace Greeley's advice, headed south. New Orleans looked attractive. He had heard glamorous tales of romance about this Latin town. In New Orleans he applied to a construction company for a Job os laborer. For qualifications for the position, or better Job, he Informed the foreman that he had two years college training. The foreman looked the applicant over oarefully and said, “Young man you get the Job." Walks Girders And now Elrod can be seen, if one doesn’t have a stiff neck, walklhg on girders high above the Btreet with the nonchalance of an Inveterate girder walker, • As your correspondent hugged a steel upright with one arm and clenched an Alpine stock with the other getting this story, young lDlrod smiled benignly and said “I prefer this work to office employment," The young man intends to work here and save enough money to return to Yale to continue his study of medicine, that Is of course, if he ran stick to the straight and narrow path prescribed by the girders.

DRAT THAT RATI NEW YORK. Dec. 17.— An eye for an eye and & life for a set of false crunchers. That revision of the modem proverb applies to the warfare between Oscar and Dennis. Oscar was a rat and Dennis was a Janitor in the apartment where both lived. There was tolerance and good will on all sides until Oscar lugged away Dennis’ set of false teeth. That spelled Oscar’s demise. Dennis has had the uppers sterilized and they bite nicely, he reports.
