The Indianapolis public school system Is enriched yearly by an average of 100 of more or less technical nature, sent gratis by publishers, according to E. U. Graff, superintendent of schools. “The publishers send us new books as an advertisement,” Graff said. “Often they are expensive copies of elementary school tehcnleal data and research Information. We receive them at all times during the year. “They are sent to the particular department concerned or else put on the shelves of the teacher’s library.” Books received In this manner have a yearly valuation of about SSOO, Graff said. Prior to the selection, every three years, of new books by the State board of education for standard school use in Indiana, these free sample copies, and often sets of several volumes, are received in quantities daily at tfie Bchool offices. ELECTION ORDERED A proclamation has been issued by Governor Jackson calling a special election Jan. 4, 1927, in Elkhart County to elect successor to State Senator Timothy H.
