AWFUL GAS PAINS AND SICK HEADACHES
Mrs. John Brogdon, who lives near Altoona, Ala., says: “Five years ago I was in very bad health. I had suffered for years with constipation, and my system had become so thoroughly poisoned that I experienced all kinds of discomfort. "My skin was yellow and my tongue was bad’-r coated. I had gas pains, and it seemed like I could not get rid of them. Every now and then I would have an awful spell with my side. I had sick headaches which would come on me suddenly and I would have to give up and go to bed. "I had read the Ladies’ Birthday Almanac and made up my mind to try Black-Draught. I had known

Senate Republicans vented their wrath for supporting La Follette for President In 1924. They were deprived of all party standing. Senator La Follette is dead and has been succeeded by his son, to whom the Republican high command has endeavored to be very kind. Senator Ladd is dead. Senator Brookhart was re-elected as a regular Republican in November. Overtures Advised With the Senate to be divided, 48 to 47, in the Seventieth Congress, overtures toward Frazier were advised by Senator Borah some time ago in a letter to Watson. The latter said he believes Frazier should be welcomed back and Senator Shipstead of Minnesota, only FarmerLabor member, who will hold the controlling vote, should be invited to affiliate witlv the party. “There has been a great change in the sentiment of the country in two years,” said Watson, who barely escaped defeat in Indiana. Frazier smiled when these sentiments were repeated to him. He hadn’t decided on his course, he said. His friends are advising him, however, to take the committee places which would have been his seniority if he had not been thrown out.

I took it regularly for several weeks, and I began to improve almost immediately, tMy color cleared up. I had a good appetite, and I no longer had the pains in my side. "I was so pleased with my improvement that I began giving the children Black-Draught for colds and constipation. Times Washington Itureau. * 1322 New York Avenue WASHINGTON, Nov. 23.—Amerlean financial Interests now have more than $11,000,000,000 invested abroad, it is estimated in the annual report bf the Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce. 1 This cotrastg with $2,500,000,000 just before the World War and It is estimated that nearly $900,000,000 yearly is being Invested by Americans in foreign fields, the report continued. The continuance of a favorable balance of trade, or an excess of exports over imports, is mainly due to the huge foreign investments, the bureau added. Were it not for these, our trade would balance, or there might even be an excess of imports. Exports were valued at $4,754,000,000 and imports at $4,654,000,000. The former figure represents an increase of approximately a billion dollars in sales of United States goods abroad since 1822. "The growth has been normal and bids fair to continue. SENATE PROBE OF ALUMINUM TRUST UP FOR DECISION Complaint Charges Unfair Methods —Hearings Progress. Times W ashinaton Bureau. 1322 New York Avenue WASHINGTON, Nov. 23.—The Alumninum Company of America faces the possibility of a Senate investigation at the coming session of Congress. Interested Senators will determine in a few days whether to demand the inquiry or to demand an investigation of the Department of Justice for alleged laxity in connection with the Aluminum Company. Deciding Factor The deciding factor probably will be the hearings now being held in Detroit and to be held in Cleveland Monday and Tuesday by the Federal Trade Commission. These hearings grow out of a formal complaint issued by the trade commission against the Aluminum Company in 1925. The complaint charges the use of unfair methods and an attempt to obtain a monopoly. Richard P. Wlntely, a former spe cial attorney in the Department of Justice, is in charge of the hearings. The Pittsburgh law firm of Gordon, Smith, Buchanan and Scott repre sents the Alumnium company, which denies all the charges. Asked Probe Senator Walsh (Montana), asked a Senate investigation of the Department of Justice in this matter last summer. His resolution was defeated, 36 to 33, two Democratic Senators, Bruce (Maryland), and Blease (South Carolina), voting against it. In the coming session Senators Butler (Massachusetts), and Williams (Missouri), will be supplanted by Senatots Walsh and Hawes, Democrats, who are expected to support an investigation. NEW EVOLUTION ANGLES Indian Chief Says Willie Man Emulates Monkey. Bu Times Special PONCA CITY, Okla., Nov. 23. “Put everything before Indian and all Indians come and divide; put something before monkey, he grab it all; white men same way; white man must come from monkey”;— the ideas of evolution of the Chief of the Ponca Indians. Horse Chief Eagle, son of White Eagle, like his father, is a chief medicine man and has the right to speak to his people, the Poncas, about religious matters. He declares that there is nothing of the idea of evolution in the tribal religious beliefs of the red man. Some time ago when the father. White Eagle, was in Birmingham, Ala., with a number of his tribesmen, he was invited to speak from the pulpit of the First Baptist Church there. The Indians were in charge of Colonel Joe Miller, of the 101 ranch, near Ponca City, who acted as interpreter. “Our hearts hurt when we do wrong and therefore we get our punishment in this life,” was the gospel preached by White Eagle to the vast crowd which Jammed the church.

PATRONAGE GAINS AT OYSTER ROUSE The advance of cool weather has greatly stimulated business of the Philadelphia Oyster House, 105 E. Ohio St., which Is being operated again this year by J. W. Everingham. Each day and night patrons are showing their appreciation of good oysters, he said, by visiting the restaurant. With shipments received fresh from Eastern oyster beds and careful handling of all oysters opened in the place, business has been good, he declared. “We handle only the freshest of oy. te s, opened r.ght in our place of business, taken from the shell shortly before the customer orders, and this makes possible the retention of those delicious natural flavors which bulk oysters do not have,” he pointed cut. Everlngham personally supervises the opening of the oysters, ldscious "selects,” which are prepared in a sanitary kitchen and served to suit the tastes of customers. “Oysters constitute one of the most nutritious foods we have, giving chemicals needed to tone up the system, as w’ell as supplying rich protein substance to balance the diet,” Everingham explained. Prepared by recipes which have been handed down in the Everingham family for many years, the oysters served by him have been pronounced unusually delicious.

extending over a period of almost two decades, of the trait and characteristics of dogs and cats. In his hospital, his “boarders” and patients come to love him because of his kindly interest in them. “We believe that we must make friends of the animals we are given to treat or take care of,” said Davis. "A dog or a cat are sensitive to the treatment of those in whose care they are placed. You take a good dog and mistreat him and you can never regain the confidence of that animal. You cannot treat that animal as successfully in a professional way, I mean. “We make a point of trying to win the confidence and friendship of our patients. We’ve got to have the right mental attitude towards our patients. That is essential in effecting a cure. We had a fine police dig patient, w'hich breed of dogs includes very high-strung animals, and for two days after its owner left nim the dog was almost frantic. It took much kindness and patience to win him over, but we succeeded.” Davis, who is associated with his two sons, Dr. La Rue and Dr. Roger Davis, has built up a reputation for the institution. Modern methods are employed in the hospital. Each animal is given special and Individual attention. Treatment of red mange, a dread dog disease, at their hospital has been usually successful.
