TRACTIONS CARRY ON BUSINESS Routes In State Over 1,093 Miles. Indiana traction companies are doing a large share of the bus passenger business In the State, according to figures announced by the Indiana committee on public utility Information today. These figures show that the traction company busses cover routes amounting to 1,093 miles. Os this mileage, only 62.6 miles are over city streets as auxiliary service to the street car lines. The rest of the mileage, by far the greater part of the total, Is over country roads, between cities. The traction companies operate 278 busses, with a total passenger capacity of 6,447 persons, or an average of twenty-three. Bus sizes are fairly well standardized, few of the cars carrying as many as thirty passengers. Fares also are standardized, city fares' ranging between 7 and 10 cents except in two cases where rides are sold for 5 cents, and inter-city charges grouping at 3 to 4 cents per mile. Six of the companies accept passengers willing to stand if all seats are occupied, but two other companies accept passengers only up to the seating capacity of their busses.
