M. Juiftin, crop statistician for Purdue University. Justin said the preliminary yield estimate of j 37.6 bushels per acre Is slightly above the average. Only 80 per cent of I the State’s 175,275,0010 bushels of [ corn is merchantable this year as compared with 87 per cent hist year, Justin reported. Ten per cent or 20,132,000 bushels of the 1925 crop is still on the farm. Oats thrashing continued through October and even though damaged the large acreage yielded a total production above average. Failure of the Marion County .Council to pass an ordinance for SI,OOO for the payment of courthouse employes’ salaries brought about the dismissal of eight Negro janitors and an elevator operator Monday. Custodian Henry Fleming discharged the employes immediately after the council failed to act. Charles O. Sutton, council member, expressed disappointment over the situation and pointed out that the county commissioners had in- 1 eluded the SI,OOO in a general appropriation.
