Sizzling Big Ten Contest Promised Between Bucks and Wolverines/ By Clark B. Kelsey, United, Press Staff Uorresnondenl CHICAGO, Nov. 12. Three Western Conference teams, unbeaten by members of the Big ten. go Into action Saturday, and Indications are that, two of them will win to tie for the season championship. The three teams are: Michipan. Ohio State and Northwestern. Michigan poes to Columbus to play what should be the sizzling game of the year, against the unbeaten Ohio eleven. Michigan has strong ends, a good backfleld, and a dazzling forward puss offensive. Ohio has an evenly balanced backfleld. a sturdy line, and :i powerful crashing offense. In addition the Buckeyes may have a passing attack, but if so they have kept it under cover, because i hey have had no reason to open up. Ohio appears to have a fair chance at defeating Michigan; last year Michipan won, 10 to 0. This year Ohio is a greatly improved team. Northwestern will have things easier, playing Chicago, which has not scored on a Big Ten team this season. On the other hand, the Wildcats have not been scored on by a, Conference team, and have been waiting for years to beat Chicago. City Bowling Gossip By Lefty Lee " In the Ladies’ Social League, rolled on the Elks’ alleys, Silver Flash and Shank Storage teams were threegame winners over the Mueller Soft Drinks and Fox’s Delicatessen while the A. C. Bradley and Capitol Furniture won two out of three from Komstohk Candy and Kreis Trans fer. Collins of the Shank Storage had high game with a nice 238. The high total for three games was carried off by Mattern of the Capitol F*urniture team on games of 196, 198 and 153 for 547 pins. Five games were better than 200 in this series. In the Elks League the Antlers hooked the Hoofs in all three games of their series, while the Ears, Teeth and Hides were copping two out of three from the Tails, Eyes and Shin Bones respectively. lVeisman was the outstanding performer in this session. Having a good fat total of 678 on games of 243, 248 and 187. Rassmussen also was in form and secured 620 pins on games of 180, 233 and 207. In the Capitol No. 2 League the Cutsinger Tranfers, Gregory and Appel .and Eastern Cleaners were victors in straight sets over the Rob- ' bins Body, Robbins Body and National Refining. It’s tough for a team to lose three in one night, but It fell to the lot of the Robbins Body team to lose six Thursday night. Rlnne, Lyhe and Bloom were the boys to top 6ss in Capitol No. 2, having totals of 642, 624 and 609 respectively. In the Bankers' League, rolled on the Central Alleys, two out of three games ruled. City Trust, Continental and Faxers Trust being returned the winners by this margin in their games with the Marion County State Bank, Indiana National and Fletcher Savings and Trust. The oppo nents of the Bankers Special will roll against their Thursday scores later. Hardy was very consistent, reaching 610, on games of 200, 201 and 209., Hurt, after a poor start of 168, came back with games of 220 and 228, for high honors, getting a 616 total. In the Universal League the East End Milk and U. Railway defeated Paper Package and Tiffany Pictures three games, while the Polk’s Best team walked off with the odd game from Ell Lilly, when Ronk, who had games of 207 and 229. dropped to 152 in his last game. Scott of the East End Milk carried high game honors on a score of 234, made In his last game. The 600 mark was not broken In this league. LOCALS LOSE Indiana Central Defeated by Danville, 16 to 0. Danville Normal defeated Indiana Central on a muddy field Thursday at University Heights. 16 to 0. The visitors outweighed the local team, but Coach George's eleven put up a game fight. Danville scored in the first quarter when Franklin punched over after Darnell had placed the belli on the five-yard line by a twenty-yard end run. Franklin drop-kicked the extra point. In the second period Franklin again scored with a beautiful place-kick from the 35-yard line. Indiana Central braced in the last half, but another touchdown was scored against the locals in the final minute of play when a Danville punt rolled out of hounds on the local fiveyard line Central tried to carry the ball, but fumbled. It was recovered by the visitors. Darnell made the touchdown, plunging over from the two-yard line. Franklin failed to drop-kick the. extra point. Near the end of the game Hite of Danville was injured and had to he carried from the field. He had played a splendid game at right end.
