culture and is supported by other government reports. “All in all, this has been a little above the average along agricultural lines in bne State: Iri many instances farmers have paid off local indebtedness, although the mortgaged indebtedness in Indiana is increased over 1925," said Settle. “Hoosier farmers have fared as well as those In any other State, unless it is Minnesota and Wisconsin and possibly Michigan. Indiana is along with the average. Settle expressed the belief that farmers the State have gone as far as they dare go along the lines of diversified farming. There is A danger of overproduction in dairy products and other perlshablesi he said: / Like National Problem According to Settle, the problem of the Indiana fanner Is the national problem whereby farmers will receive benefit of the protective tariff the same as industries and other business. ‘‘The main difficulty Is that farm-

Much of the crop was not marketable and had to he fed to stock. !>>ss by Hog Cholera ''Corn crop was fair; some localities suffered damage from rain. Farm era Whrt raised hogs and sheep in most instances fed them at a profit, although hog cholera loss was tremendous this season. “Cattle feeders did not do so well. probably fared the best of any group of Hqbsier farmers. “Many complainst have been received that dairy producers have been operating at a loss because they are not getting what they should for products. This is a monster business in Indiana and they have done very well this year in my opinion. "Poultry raisers have been fairly prosperous, the price having remained up during the year.” HITS SPOILS SYSTEM Hr. Slterwoofl Speaks Over WFBM for American Education Week.
