Mrs. Harriett Kahn, 68, of 2144 College Ave., was injured about the back and head 'Tuesday night, who*, she was struck by an auto at 512 Massachusetts Ave., driven by Jesse Anderson, Negro, of 530 Blake St. Anderson said Mrs. Kahn stepped' from the curb suddenly. She was taken home. Harvey Greenwood, 920 N. Alabama St., driving a taxicab, at 629 N. Blackford St., ran over Charles Jones, 10, Negro, of 629 N. Blackford St., who fell into the street .vhile fleeing from another boy in play. He was injured about the hip gnd left leg, and taken to the city hosp L-.. Glenn Browning, Reelsville. Ind., asked police to seek the driver of an auto that struck his and knocked it from the road at Reelsville ana continued on towards Indianapolis without stopping. Lowell 11. Bassett, 38, of 2918 Ruckle St., driving an auto with a broken wheel, and without a tire and rim, is alleged to have knocked over two lamp posts and careened from one curb to ,the other for several blocks, in the vicinity of Burdsall Pky., and Harding and Eighteenth St., Tuesday night. John Ambuhl, secretary to Police Chief Johnson, trailed him and ordered him to stop, but he continued on and then Motor Policemen Johnson and Weddle arrived, and charges of driving while intoxicated were placed against him. Others charged with driving while intoxicated were Harold Haslet, 31, of 2849 Stewart St.; John Brown, 46, of 548 Udell St.; Roy Bess, 34, of 1122 Villa Ave.; William H. BradI ford, 43, of 1534 W. POLLS WATCHER FACES HEARING Loser in Primary Race for Congress Accused. Edward O. Snethen, 38, of 233 W. Thirty-Eighth St., defeated in the May primary for the Democratic nomination for Representative in Congress, faces a hearing in the court of Municipal Judge Dan V. White this afternoon on a charge of malicious trespass. Snethen was arrested Tuesday night as the result of a row at the polling place of the Eighteenth precinct, Fourth ward. Snethen said that as the polls closed at 6 o'clock, he presented himself as a Democratic watcher, offering his credentials. He asserted that Election Sheriffs Porter and Lyle refused to even look at the credentials and tried to shut a door on him, but he placed hi? foot against it and in the struggle that followed the door glass as broken' The election sheriffs with Police Officer Wheeler then arrested him. G. O. P. Gives Fast Service on Returns Election information facilities at Republican county headquarters, under direction of Wayne Emmelman and Harry B. Dynes, was the subject of much favorable comment. First returns were received immediately after the close of the polls at 6 p. m> and nearly all precincts were reported before midnight. Emmelman directed a corps of ten volunteer checkers and clerks, who assembled the totals in rapid order. During the day, motorcycle couriers bore tidings to Dynes, who is sued statements of the vote at 10 a. m., 2 p. m. and 4 p. rn. Emmelman and Dynes provided special arrangements for newspaper men and materially aided them in obtaining fast information.,#

BOYS KICK HOLE IN WALL; ESCAPE Two Make Daring Break at Detention home. Police today are searching for an 11-year-old boy and his 12-year-old companion, who escaped from the Detention Home, 1102 N. Capitol Ave., late Tuesday after kicking a hole in the boys' washroom large enough to crawl through, picking the window lock of the adjoining room and making their way out of the window down a fire escape. The break shows every evidence of having been carefully prepared and timed. Miss S. J. Pray, home matron, told police.
