SECOND SUICIDE ATTEMPT FATAL \ durance Collector Takes Life by Poison. A second attempt by Carlton Hollowell. 39, of 612 Luett St., to take his life, proved effective. He did In city hospital admitting room from poison, self -administered. Mrs. Hollowell called the police to her home when she found her husband lying on the porch with the smell of poison on his breath. He tried to kill himself about a year ago and recently, according to his widow, had been brooding over the fact that he had been held up and robbed of SB6, collections of the Public Savings Insurance Company. Besides the widow, Hollowell is survived by three children, ranging In age3 from 1 to 7 years, his mother, Mrs. Hannah Hollowell, and four brothers and two sisters, all of this city. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. BOTH WANT LITTLE SON Mother Tells Police She Believes Boy, 10, Taken Away by Father. Police today were asked to find a boy believed to hate been taken away by his father. His parents are separated, police said. Mrs. Laura Sprattley, . 1447 W. Market St., said her son, Frank ittley Jr., 10, started to school failed to return home. A check >aled he had been talking to his, father, Frank Sprattley, ' 40, who lives in Kentucky. Mrs. Sprattley appealed to juvenile court here for custody of the boy and asked police to find him. It is believed he was taken to Kentucky. DIRTY BATTERY CAUSES NOISE Noisy reception is often caused by a dirty storage battery. Plans for raising Indiana’s quota of $1,000,000 fund being sought by the American Historical Association for research work in history were outlined at a meeting of those interested held Monday at the Indianapolis /Athletic Club. Former Senator Albert J. Beveridge, chairman of the national committee in charge of the fund raising, attended. He will speak in the interest of the fund at South Bend, Terre Haute and Richmond. , The quota for this State has been fixed at $50,000 and $12,000 is already subscribed, according to Secretary Christopher B. Coleman. All contributions should be mailed to Room 334. Statehouse. Several local men were appointed to the State committee in charge of the fund laising.
