WHETHER WATSON CAN STILL PULL THROUGH, ASKED Klan Revelations Regarded as Damaging as Stephenson Scandal. Hy Roscoe Fleming. Indiana is recovering from KuKlux Klan domination. This was shown when a trainload of Hoosiera, returning here early today from the Rewl committee hearing in Chicago, were unanimous that revelations 'are anew blow to Senator J. E. Watson’s chances for re-elec-tion, as damaging as the Steihonson scandal. "Whether Jim can still pull through,? was the universal topic cf conversation. • He had anew chance today .to pull himself off the fiery cross, when Senator Reed came here to give Watson a chance to reply. Watson has denied any “understanding” with the Klan, and denied most of the testimony of Hjugh (Pat) Emmons, former minor Klan official. At the same time, however, a former Indiana head of the Klan and his former secretary, were reluctantly giving Reed new testimony of Watson’s Klan support. The Revelations They admitted indirectly, but to Reed's satisfaction: 1. That the forijier Klan dragon, Walter Bossert, was forced out of office because he would not agree to the demands of national Klan offloads to support Watson, and “aban-

told of introducing Watson to Evans and of conferences by the two. Emmohs earl ice. told of an alleged conversation between htniself and Evans in which the latter said the Klan was boosting Watsop for President. As yVataon had his chance today to retrieve his fortunes, new committee subpoenas were going out for Klansmen and others to be heard today. Mrs. VVheacraft Called A subpoena already was issued for Mrs. Vivian T. Wheatcraft, vies chairman of the Republican State committee, and Watson, lieutenant, who was quoted several months ago as saying she had a "poison squad" ot women in each county, who won "victory of gossip" for Watson in the Republican primary. The re-’ suiting uproar rated as a storm before the Stephenson and Klan cyclones, although Mrs, Wheatcraft denied the interview. Despite the rich haul already made by Reed in information on the Klan. and the fact that hearings keep the spilling over the Indiana State boundaries' to furnish leads into Ihe affairs of the national Klan it is probable Reed will close the hearings tonight. He is tired and he has shaking engagements in Missouri for next week. Although he is being urged to continue in Indiana, he is said to feel he has shown the people of the nation and Indiana the true state of affairs here already,q and that more would be an anti-climax. Mrs. Wheatcraft, who is in Missouri, may, however, be heard there later. Comic Relief Comic relief of the hearings so far was Republican Chairman Clyde Walb’s statement, in support of his charge that "international bankers’ ” money was being spent in every pre cinet to defeat the Senators, that he had heard from >a .man in Elwood, Ind., that eight million dollars was pledged at a Ne wYorg banquet to

Pimples On Face Neck and Shoulders Cuticura Healed “My face began to break out with small, itchy pimpies in great numbers. They were hard and red and festered and scaled over. The pimples spread to my face, neck and shoulders and itched and burned something awful so that, I could hardly sleep at night. My clothing irritated the breaking out on my shoulders, and my face was disfigured. I had the trouble about two years. “ I was told about Cuticura Soap and Ointment and sent for a free sample. After using it I got relief so purchased more and in about two months I was completely healed.” (Signed) Winfred Chambers, R. 4, Box 191, Bedford, Ind.
