ANOTHER BUSY DAY IS FACED BY ROUMANIAN QUEEN Marie Suffering From Slight Cold —Goes to Sesqui Late Today.
Btt United Press NEW YORK, Oct. 21.—After three days in the United States, during which the warm welcome of Ameri cans was tempered by the vagaries of the American climate, accompanied by rain, hail and raw weather, Queen Marie of Roumanla awoke this morning to a perfect autumn day. Suffering from a cold contracted Wednesday, when she was exposed to the rain at Annapolis and in Bal tlmore, the Queen stayed in bed longer than her custom and missed the glowing that heralded a bright and crisp autumn day. Her Majesty’s visit so far has been strenuous, arriving Wednesday night after the constant ceremonies of her visit to Washington, Baltimore and Annapolis, she was guest at a reception by the Society of Friends of Roumanla, at which 700 New Yorkers were presented to her. It was after midnight when the Queen and her suite retired to her hotel. There was no let-up today, and the program was well-filled until 3 p. m., when the Queen is due to start for Philadelphia and the Sesquicentennlal Exposition. This morning the Queen visited the New York public library. Huge crowds greeted her everywhere. Princess Ileana gnd Prince Nicholas remained at the hotel to inspect a now roadster an enterprising company gave them. At noon, the royal party were guests a luncheon given by the Chamber of Commerce of New York State. The official reception last night was reminiscent of the pomp of the second empire in France. Statesmen, politicians, jurists and business men mingled with the elite of the social register. But gate-crash-ers could not break through the scores of detectives in evening clothes, stationed at the various temporary royal gates at the Hotel RitaCarltoij.
