by John S. Ruckelshaus, local* attorney, who is said to represent the selling company. Strategic Move Insull is in New York City, from which point an announcement to this effect is expected momentarily. The move is regarded as strategic on Insull’s part, considering his un successful attempt to buy out tne competition. With practically every source of electric power production in Indiana owned by Insull, he has held a virtual monopoly on all electrical energy consumed in Indianapolis. Insull to Sell Power Contracts have been drawn between Insull and the Utilities Power and Light Company of Chicago, holding company for the Indian apolis Light and Heat concern, providing or the latter to buy all its current from Insull power production plants, It was reported. Norman A. Perry, president of the Indianapolis company, confirmed the fact that a merger is in the making, but refused details. Outsiders in Control For the last ten years, control of the Merchants' company has been in the hands of outsiders. It first was owned by the Brewer interests of Michigan and then by Insull. Early last January a move was started by Insull to acquire control of •'the In dianapolis company and 28% Per cent of this stock was bought at SSOO a share. The plan failed when the majority stock of the concern was taken over by a holding com pany. The Indianapolis company since its organization in 1889 has been controlled by local persons.
