SEX IMPULSES CAUjEOF WAR Professor Says Men Are Natural Fighters. Bn Times Sncrinl BERLIN, Oct. 15.—Male sex impulses are the direct cause of war. Professor J. F. Bemmelen said in a speech before the International congress of sexologists here. Bellicose Instincts, Professor Bemmelen said, are prevalent only among men and are especially strong in those who have just attained sexual maturity. “It is true that women occasionally participate in warlike enterprises,’’ he said, “but it is a subordinate capacity. However, they not only fail to show revolt against such a futile waste of life, but they encourage men to wear military uniforms and to sponsor regimental bands, decorations and troop parades.’’ Brazen courage, rage, blood thirstiness, incendiarism and destruction, he said, were typical concomitants of the masculine sex impulse. “War gamesy are most popular among boys.’’ he concluded. "Youthful fist fights and later duelling represent the transition stage as sex instincts near puberty.’’ DANCERS STRIKE TOWNSEND, Mass.—Because the proprietor of the Park Hotel boosted the ante for terpsichorean festivities from $5 to $lO a night recently Townsend went into the throes of a dance strike.
