Bv United Press SYDNEY, Oct. 15.—A fierce battle between a woman and a huge eaglehawk was recently fought at a sheep station near Goulburn, about 140 miles from here. The woman, Mrs. Gertrude Flynn, was going out to drive the cows home for the night, when she heard them bellowftig. They were rushing madly in all directions. At first Mrs. Flynn thought that a pack of wild dogs was bothering them, but as she drew nearer she saw a huge eagle-hawk, viciously attacking the cows. Swooping down at them the bird was peeking furiously and clawing at the backs of the frantic animals. Without thought of her own dan-

One of the hawk’s claws ripped her dress from shoulder to wrist. Mrs. Flynn fought desperately to save her life. She aimed heavy blows at the bird but its talons continued to inflict severe gashes on the vjpman, and she was almost exhausted when she found unexpected allies.
