It was complicated work because she did ifsHl sealing and other parts of the wor k. It was strenuous work and she was not a strong girl. Often she forced herself to work when she was hardly able to sit at her machine. At times she would have to stay at home for she was so weak she could hardly walk. For five years she was in this weakened condition. She tried various medicines. At last, a friend of hers spoke of Lydia 4E. Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound and Miss Schmidt gave it a trial. “Everyone says I am a healthier and stronger girl,” she writes. “I am recommending the Vegetable Compound to all my friends who tell me how they suffer and I am willing to answer letters from women asking about it.” Julia Schmidt’s address is 652 North Front St., Salem, Oregon. BUILDING NEWS OF INDIANAPOLIS

DSE OE CINDER BLOCKS SHOWS BUILDING TREND Increased Interest in Material, Declares Manager of Straub Company. Straub cinder blocks in the finer homes of Indianapolis continues to show the increased interest in them as being economical for modern building projects, according to E. W. Klatte, manager of the Straub Cinder Block Company of Indianapolis, 585 Century Bldg. The Straub cinder blocks possess splendid dampproof, soundproof, fireproof and insulation qualities, Ivlatte pointed out. < Surface for Stucco "The rough texture of the Straub cinder block afford a perfect surface for plaster and stucco,” said Flatte. "The same coefficient of expansion in base and stucco explains why stucco does not crack apd spall on Straub blocks. An ideal suction and 1 mechanical bond is provided by our blocks. I .ess Plaster “One of* the common faults of other types of masonry Is through the mortar joint, which readily conducts moisture, heat and cold through the wall. The Straub cinder block is a nonconductor, not depending on the dead air spaces as do other forms of hollow masonry. Having the lowest capilarity and conductivity of any masonry, furring the lathing are not required. Stucco and plaster are applied direct to the blocks; one-third less plaster being required on account of the omission of seraph coat and more uniform surface.” EARTHQUAKE RECORDED Pil Vnilcd Press MADRID, Spain, Oct. 14.—An earthquake was registered on the seismograph at the University of Toledo today, according to dispatches from Toledo. The shocks apparently were 5,925 miles from Toledo.
