SCORES USE OF , COOLIE NAME BY $1 BOILER 'High Time He Stresses His Own Qualifications/ Moses Says. Times Washington Bureau. 1322 Xcw York Aienue WASHINGTON, Oct. I—lt Is time Senator William M. Butler, chairman of the Republican national committee, now seeking re-election In Massachusetts, began running “in his own name,” instead of President Coolidge’s name, according to Senator Moses of New Hampshire. Senator Moses' opinion was formed after studying the Massachusetts campaign and his views were disclosed at the White House, following a conference with President Coolidge. Surprises Reporters Asked what he thought of the Massachusetts campaign, Moses declared “Butler’s chances are much better.” Then he surprised reporters by adding: “It is high time that the Massachusetts powers stress Butler’s qualification. He should run in his own name. Butler’s friends should indulge in a little self-assertion." - Best Qualified f Senator Moses said Butler, whom Ihe referred to as “Bill,” is one of 'the “best qualified of the group of freshmen Senators now in the SenAte.” j Butler is opposed by former Senator David I. Walsh, regarded as One of the best vote-getters Massachusetts has ever produced. To overcome Walsh’s popularity. Republican politicians have been making President Coolidge the issue. TOURISTS AID FRANCE V American’s Money May Lead to Stabilization of Franc. NEW YORK, Oct. I.—The enormous tourist flux to Paris and other parts of France may proVe to be one of the major contributions to the stabilization of the Franc. There never were more tourists in France than this summer in spite of prices which necessarily have been high. This great tourist movement has been a main contributing factor to a favorable balance of trade for France. . LAUGH AT DUCE PARlS—Mussolini’s attempt to force a national dress on Italian women has given Paris dressmakers a good laugh. Poiret declares that Mussolini's designs show a greater regard for Roman -history than for modern conditions. He asked a reporter to try to imagine a worrian, garbed in the draperies of ancient Rome, getting into a subway.
