NEW YORK WILL SEE INTERESTING > GOVERNOR RACE Al Smith Opposed by Mi'ils, Millionaire Reublican and Beau Brummell. Bu United Press NEW YORK, Sept. 29.—New York State settled down today to what promises to bo an Interesting election campaign between the Democratison In power, and the Republicans. with prohibition likely to be the deciding Issue. The Democrats are running Alfred E. Smith for the fifth time for Governor and Justice Robert F. Wagner for the United States Senate. The Republicans present Representative Ogden L. Mills for Governor and Senator James W. Wadsworth Jr., for the Senate. The personality of Al Smith, one of the most picturesque figures in American politics, makes the race unusually interesting. Smith, who dominates his party as a supreme commander, is regarded by the Democrats as certain of election. They are likewise convinced that he will be the next Democratic candidate for President. When his name was presented to the convention in Syracuse yesterday by Senator Copeland, he was referred to as “the next President of the United States.” The Governor smiled at the demonstration that followed and remarked, “One nomination at a time.” 4 Smith has had a remarkable rise in the political world. At the age of 12 he was forced to leave school to support his family. Mills’ life has been just the opposite. His friends say he is a millionaire many times and stands the chance of inheriting several millions more. He is a Beau Brummel and was born in the exclusive summer colony of Newport, R. 1., and received Jiis education at Harvard.
POLICE UNCOVER BIBBOOZEGACHE Two Large Stills, Liquor Confiscated. Detectives Hillman and Young uncovered a ,lant liquor cache when they arrested James Wilson, 28, of 411 E. St. Clair St., on suspicion in connection with copper wire thefts Tuesday. Both were openly commended by Chief Claude Johnson and Inspector Claude Worley. Under" questioning Wilson admitted he had two stills in operation at 901 N. East St. Sergt. Edward Deeter armed with a search warrant, aided the other officers in locating the whisky manufacturing apparatus. One still was 100 gallon capacity and another sixty. Nineteen barrels of mash, twenty-one gallons of finished white mule, five gallons malt were seized. Six hundred Indigestion and Back-ache Gone Trouble AH' Gone Now. Backache Quit. Eats Anything. People who are suffering from stomach or kidney trouble will enjoy reading a letter written by Chas. L. Scott, 839 E. Maryland St., Indianapolis, Ind. Instead of being an invalid, he says his health is perfect now. Mr. Scott writes: “I suffered with stomach trouble for twenty years. bloated and at times I felt as if there wap a rock lying in the pit of my stomach. My kidneys were weak and disturbed me during the night. My back ached all the time. Nothing I ate did me any good, and I tried different medicines without improving. Then a friend told me to try Viuna. The first bottle made me feel better and so I kept right on. When I started in I only weighed 145 pounds; now I weigh 157 pounds, a gain of 12 pounds, and I feel fine. Don’t have any trouble with my stomach any more and can sit down to the table and eat a good hearty meal without one bit of fear. I don’t have any trouble with my kidneys and back, either. All the pains have gone. My constipation Is entirely gone, and I want to say Viuna did it all.” Viuna acts promptly on sluggtt bowels, lazy liver and weak kidneys. I| purifies the blood, clears the skin, restores appetite and digestion, and bring, new strength and energy to the whole body. Take a bottle on trial. Then if you re not glad you tried Viuna, your money will be refunded. $1 at druggists, or mailed postpaid by Iceland Medicine Cos., Indianapolis, Ind. VIUNA The vegetable regulator
