This activity is the direct result of the promised closing of the primary campaigns Monday. At that time New York Democrats will designate ; Charles F. MAH COUNTY INSANE LACKING HOSPITALIZATION One Man Sent to Jail on Vagrancy Charge—No Room for Him. There are thirty-two insane persons in Marion C ount y awaiting admittance to Central Hospital for the Insane, by Dr. Max A. Bahr, superintendent, reported today. The instjjutlon now has 1,760 patients, 300 more than It can normally accommodate, Dr. Bahr declared. These facts were also revealed by Dr. Herbert T. W*gner, in municipal court four, when Judge Pro f-'m. Earl Cox, by error, discharged Charles-'A. Lewis, 68, bf 423 N. Illinois St., recently declared, Insane bjv Dr. Wagner and Dr. John A. White. Lewis was examined on complaint of the Salvation Army, in the justice of peace court of Conrad Keller.' Put In Jail Because there was no room for Lewis at the Central Hospital for the Insane, he was slated for vagrancy confined in city jail. Judge Cgx said he was not, informed of the insanity hearing and liberated the prisoner when no one'Vippeared in court against him. \ Informed of the | insanity charge against LewJs. ordered the man’s re-arrest. Police, however, have not been able to find him. Dr. Wagner said Lewis had made himself a pest at local charity agencies for the past two years, and had bean a patient at an insane hospital In St. Paul, Minn. Relatives of the man in Ohio and California have refused to take him, because they are afraid of him. he said. • “Lewis isn't a wild man, but he needs proper attention and care," said Dr. Wagner. There are now 778 patients from Marion County in the hospital, the superintendent pointed out. - The county is allotted C 95 beds, he said.
