Copies of a resolution asking that no leniency be granted convicted bank bandits was forwarded today to the State tyoard of pardons. The resolution was adopted by \he Indiana State Bankers Association at the closing session of their convention at Purdue University. An invitation was extended to the association by bankers and residents of French Ltpk to hold their 1927 convention in that city. Evans Woollen, president of the Fletcher Savings and Trust Company, Indianapolis, and democratic, senatorial nominee, was one of the principal speakers at the final Mission. m # ' I GET ALLEGED GANGSTER Man Said to Have Worked With Whitteniore Held for N. Y. Police. Bv Vnittyt Preen CHICAGO, Sept. 23.—Robert Berg, said by police to be a member of the Richard Reese Whittemore gang of New Yoi'k, is under $150,000 bond today, beijng held for New York police. Berg was arrested in an apartment here in which several thousand dollars' worth of jewels were found. Police believe the jewels to be loot fnom eastern robberies. Whittemore, leader of the gang, was hanged in Baltimore recently for killing a prison gua'iid. WANTS REAPPOINTMENT Reappointment of W. W. Spencer, Democratic member of the State board of election Commissioners, has been recommended to Governor Jackson by R. Earle Peters of Ft. Wayne, Democratic State chairman. Spencer has been a board member since 1922. Jackson last week appointed Fred C. Gause, former member of the Supreme Court, as Republican member.
