IMPROVEMENT IN RADIO Kim CONDITIONS HERE Dealers and Distributors Report Splendid Business and Prospects. During the past several weeks there has been a noticeable improvement in radio receiving conditions in Indianapolis. Many local fans report the reception of distant stations and there has beers little static or other interference. Since the opening of station WFBM with new and improved equipment, the Merchants Heat and Light Company has received many communications from various parts of the State saying that the local station is being received clearly and with great volume and in many instances for the first time. Local radio dealers and distribptors report that the radio business this year is iully two months ahead of the last year and they are looking forward to one of the biggest seasons in the history of the indutry. L. D. Ginger, manager of the I. J. Cooper Rubber Company, local branch, says: “During the month of August we sold almost twice as much radio merchandise as we did during the month of September last year, and the outlook for the coming season is the brightest that it has been. We hope to more than double our last year’s radio business, Remodel Store P. J. Connell, Kruse-ConnelL Company, States: “'During the past month we have remodeled our store on W. Ohio St., almost doubling the space of our salesroom, so that we will be able to take care of the rush of the radio business that is bound to come. We recently have been appointed distributors for the entire Crosley line of radio sets and speakers for this territory, and are presenting one of the largest and most complete stocks of radio sets, parts and speakers that we ever have carried.’’ E. M. Gass, Gibson Company, distributors of FADA sets and speakers, says: “This year, with fewer but better and bigger dealers than we had last year, we are going to double our radio sales. Up to the present time our hardest task has been to get enough merchandise to supply the demand, and at the present time are unable to fill our orders. The trend this year is goirig to be for bigger and better sets. People now are buying cabinet and floor models and milady is very particular that the finish of the cabinet of the radio set will match her furniture. Radio has passed through the experimental stage and is fast growing, to be one of the largest industries in the country." * Kept Busy H. Guy May, radio department, Vonnegut Hardware Company: "We have sold almost as .much radio merchandise during the past summer as we did last winter, since the opening of the local station, we have been busy renewing batteries and tubes and have been swamped with service calls from those who have not used their sets during the summer but are anxipus to renew their batteries and tubes to be able to listen In on the local station. During the past several weeks we have had wonderful reception, and some mighty fine programs. We will more than double our business this year if we are able to get sets.” Claude S. William, manager of tho second Indianapolis Radio Exposition: “The second annual radio exposition to be held the week of Oct. 25 in the Exposition Bldg, at the State fairground will be twice as large as the one held last year. With the show almost two months away W'e already have sold a third more space than we did last year. One of the big features of this years’ show will be Dealer’s Day, Wednesday, Oct. 27, when we are expecting several hundred dealers from all parts of the middle west. Jobbers and dealers have bought more space than last year and are looking forward to one of the largest and best seasons in the history of the industry.” H. A.
