ORGANIZATION FOR SPREADING CHEER IS STARTED HERE Is Branch of National Flower and Fruit Guild —Hoosier Founder. Honor has been paid Mrs. John Wood Stewart, formerly of Evansville, founder of the National Plant, Flower and Fruit Guild, by establishment of a branch in the Indiana capitol. The “baby" chapter, organized here by Mrs. George Hill of New York is one of more than four hun dred branches. “Formation of an Indianapolis branch of the 33-year-old sunshine organization is a fitting tribute to its founder, a Hoosier," said Mrs. Hill. Will Be State-Wide “Civic interests here are wide awake and the guild will soon be on its feet. Some of the community’s leading citizens are pushing the movement. “Indianapolis has led the way and I expect to form other guilds in Indiana.” Spread of life, love and happiness Bhrough distribution of gifts and beautification of homes and public property is the goal of the unique organization. Cheer is brought to thousands by the year-round program for volunteer civic workers. Sept. 21, a downtown clearing house, central point for distribution of flowers, plants and fruit to the aged, sick and lonely, will be opened by the guild.
